2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

My money is frankly on Med. People act like Tara was this come out of no where skater but she was fairly experienced so was Sarah. It is a lot to expect a skater to win OGM when they have not even experienced worlds. Look at Yulia.

Great video. It's a sin to not include there Kostornaia, Trusova, Scherbakova, Akatieva though.

Thanks! They're all great skaters I'm sure, especially that Kostornaia (what a revelation!), but none of them are at the Olympics so...

Don't even think about it. :roll5:

I love your vids! :)

Thanks, but I've lost the hype lol! This is probably the last.

Yes but Alina did not come out of anywhere either. She won both her Grand Prix. She wan Grand Prix Final (beat all the other top skaters in the world) then won Europeans (beat the top skater in the world) just like Tara beat Michelle at worlds. Even though Europeans wasn't worlds, the only competition for Alina is Evgenia and she did beat her there

Gotta say though, it would’ve been likely Zhenya would’ve won over Alina at GPF if she’d been healthy, based on how Alina scored that day and zhenyas usual scores, and then again at nats, which likely would’ve slowed Alina’s pcs rise this season a little bit if Zhenya had soundly beaten her at every competition so far.

How euros would’ve gone I couldn’t say. Results might’ve still been the same as they are now.

But what’s done is done now. I just hope for good skates and everyone can be satisfied with their performances.

Yeah that's true but that would only be if Evgenia was 100% clean. I don't think Evgenia would have stopped Alina's PCS score rise, they were on that trajectory since she's been in juniors. And she has improved SO much from last year and at every subsequent competitions (in the FS). Plus I think when you have Alina and Evgenia skate at the same competition, the judges can see the huge different in quality between their jumps; Alina is a much better jump and spinner and has more difficult transition and is very naturally charismatic and charming without the dramatic expressions. But regardless, Alina didn't come out of nowhere and she is more dominant and better than Tara Lipinski was the season she beat Michelle. And the difference in PCS between Tara and Michelle was SO evident, but the different between Evgenia and Alina is much smaller visually

So Zagitova's practice session was stopped because they wanted to do her doping testing ASAP. Poor girl was unable to give urine before practice and they insisted that she must do it now resulting in her missing half of the practice session.
This is ridiculous. They do that only with Russian athletes.

I am disgusted.

This is so disguesting. Shame on you, WADA

That’s horrible! Can they even legally prevent Alina from training? I thought they just had to not let her out of their sight until she could give the sample. She deserves to not be at a disadvantage to the other girls when their practice time on ice is so limited already. :noshake:

As I read from some sources - actually she did testing before training successfully. But since she was compelled to drink lots of water for this - she couldn't continue the training due to increased weight. I.e. it became hard for her to jump.

If they did, russianfan and I are going to tank the WADA headquarters... kidding.... or am I? ;)
I am I promise don't arrest me anyone

I’m so sad. Please win Alina and put an ends to this injustice.
