2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Alina's mom is rather small i dont see Alina being extra tall. On the other hand - Evegnia's mom is not small

Are Alina and Zhenya going to worlds? They are healthy and skating great so I hope so. Alina is going for an unprecedented season of a national championship a European championship and Olympic championship and a world championship. And isn't Medvedeva going for a very rare 3 world championship titles in a row? I hope those two go to Worlds and they add one of the youngsters in the mix as well.

Alina's father just said on russian TV show that she catched a cold and now is sick with 38.5 temperature resting at home in Moscow. So, it already means 1 week of recovery if they don't want any health problems later. And only 3 weeks is left until Worlds. And if that sickness is more serious and it will be hard to recover quickly - skipping Worlds by Alina is still a possibility. In that case the question who goes to the Worlds is interesting indeed.

I want to see Radionova in the World Cup, but I do not know if it will be possible :(

Hey, I have a question: What about the money won by Alina and Evgenia in this Olympic, and with all the money that Evgenia is supposed to have won in all her championships? It is a large amount, but for some reason it is said that the girls don't have money, or they would not have the money to pay for a new coach. Does the Russian Federation keep a% of the prizes? If so, it would seem horrible to me.

Has anyone watched the Cup of Russia. Wow! There are some really good young Russians who are going to make some noise.

All regulars here watched it long time ago. In fact, many regulars here are watching majority of even minor russian competitions of junior or even novice levels. It's a inevitable for any serious fan of single ladies figure skating after all - if one want to see future of the sport and bests of the best.

I hope Zhenya and Alina (and all other skaters) keep not only their Olympic prize money but all money. It’s not like they receive a lot for wins anyway compared to other sports.

Speaking of the best of the best and the future, performed some analysis for Sofia Akatieva.

She should be able to do triple axel with just 3 more frames of air time... And the 2A I used for reference was 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the program. So she might already be able to do triple axel. 4T, 4S are essentially certain, 4F and 4Lz both would require around 5 more frames of air time(But they too were done 2 minutes to the program) which wouldn't even be a very big triple jump(Clearly smaller than Tarakanova's for example). She gets into her aerial rotation position as well as peak rotation speed faster than anyone else and the peak rotation speed itself is the fastest in the world. It's as if she practiced all her jumps specifically so that she could start the peak rotation speed as fast as possible. I don't think I've ever seen anyone jump quite like this.
