2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Little Alina will soon have as many antis as Evgenia, not bad at all.

she's already had a legion of haters as a junior. and now as a direct threat to osmond and other north american ladies she might become the most hated skater on the field and surpass evgenia in that regard. yeah, i'm also lovin' it

That's true. No one in Lombardia thread challenged Caro's 36 pcs score for a very bland program with uninspiring step sequence which can hardly be compared with what she showed in Bolero years ago. There was overall massive praize for Wakaba. I imagine the outcry if this cheesy program was skated by a Russian - Petrov had his share of W*TF after basically doing the same. And of course Alina is in the middle of criticism starting with the dress, then with not following the music, etc. etc.

I wonder, what's a better tactics for senior debutant?
Play it safe with already super-tough content and very likely collect wins or to keep trying to shock the world with that insane 2A entry and risk losing first places?

Before I watched the videos I checked the forum first. When I saw comments that Alina was behind her music I thought she was behind her music all the time, but it is only her last spin:( She could easily cut down two rotations of her spins to match the music. Her make up is a little too heavy though, it hid the beautiful details of her face.

She should take it out. It's the second time she's missed it recently and barely impacts her score at all. In a well-skated event a fall could drop her out of the top 6, which would make harder to catch up in the LP. If she keeps it, she should probably watch videos of the master of the spiral-into-2A: https://youtu.be/_5sRk-mpC4Q?t=1m9s

That was beautiful but Alina's is more difficult.

Alina's entry is much more than a spiral though. Anyone has a precise name for her move before the 2A?

Evidence of cheating?

Oh give it a rest. Did you even watch that or did you just come to rant about Zagitova?
The entire competition is one giant joke when it comes to the PCS, and it is not just her. From Costner to Shoma Uno's almost 46. They were all overscored, big time.

It's a charlotte. The position is harder to achieve than Maria's, but Maria's spiral is on an edge, and the change of edge into the take-off position is much more fluid (which is why the outcome was more successful).

I think Alina's PCS would be a point or two higher without the fall. I expect her to win the event, but since she is a first year senior it will be important for her to skate more clean programs so her PCS rises over the season.

Oh I think she will win. Carolina's technical side, or lack thereof is much more apparent against Alina's FS technical side, and Wakaba isn't backloading, nor does she have a -3lo combo

Let's face it, if we weren't in Italy, Kostner would be in third, at least. I agree, the whole thing is a joke

I googled with keywords "charlotte, dance position" and it gives me dance jobs in Charlotte, SC:rolleye:

Then I google image-d using"charlotte dance pose", I got all kinds of poses. Is charlotte a ballet move, or general dance move, or a figure skating move?

No, I didn't come here just to rant about Zagitova! I'm just sick of reputation and big-name coach and difficult technical content meaning a boost in PCS. I can't be the only one who believes she needs work in that department. But that doesn't mean I'm anti-Russian.
Yes, you're right that all the pcs was out of control. I'm not blaming zagitova, kostner, or Wakaba for the scores they received. This is absolutely cheating on the judges part.

I didn't watch the program and can't be certain but is this perhaps it?

I fixed the link :o:

Sasha Cohen did them amazingly well

Alina does a Charlotte spiral and then a counter into 2A.

I thought it was just a three turn but regardless maybe she'd be better of trying to enter into the jump straight after the Charlotte. She's losing speed on the turn.
