It was beautiful. TBH I'm not a fan of Eteri girls' axels (Anna Pogo doesn't have the best one either) so when I saw Sasha's I was just so so impressed! She needs to work on her spins but come on! She is 13 years old. Over all she is really polished young lady who definitely made a blast at her very first JGP and it wasn't just a quad but the whole package ;)

Zagi also has very good 2A. She may go for 3A this season
 
Aleksandra Trusova set many records today:

1. The best junior international debut ever.
2. The highest combined score of regular JGP series.
3. The highest free skate score of regulat JGP series.
4. The highest BV of junior free skate of all times.
5. The highest BV of free skate among ladies ever? I am not sure about the last one but I checked - Mao was lower than that and who else could have BV of 68.73?

This is the embodiment of Eteri's genius. No matter what critics say about her she is by far the best ladies coach may be of all times.

This is also the manifest that the new era of ladies' skating is already there. With triple axels, quads, difficult combos, and crazy transitions. Only those who will play this game will have the chance to fight for podiums. It is may be sad for those who whine about good old times when skaters "felt the music" but when they also could do a dozen crossovers without making an element or skate across the whole rink before a jump. In men it started before. Jason or Nathan, anyone? I am sure, Nathan, although fundamentally Jason is "a better skater".
 
My friend was there, he said the whole morning she didn't land the 4S, then by the competition she BAMF! What a great young lady. Yes it's short but she will make it in time.

If that's true, it means she is great competitor. Doesn't matter how good you are - without the pride and self-confidence in your heart, you won't be a true champion. :agree:
 
This is my first time seeing Trusova and she is absolutely impressive. Her jumps have great snap to them, and she is fast across the ice and confident.

As much as some people love hating on Eteri, gotta give it to her and her team for continually producing excellent skaters.

She's also the youngest skater to win a JGP event :)

Wow, Wow, Wow!!!!!! A new star on the horizon! Just spectacular....How a girl so young can feel the music and execute such difficult, back loaded combinations is really something special. I wish her the very best of health as she matures and deals with the riggers of competing in such a tough field of Russian Diva's. Eteri needs to be given more credit for preparing her skaters mentally. Her skaters are among the best competitors in the World. Of course Med, has been the best competitor for the last 2 seasons and she is the clear favorite for the OGM. This young lady is a breath of fresh air......:cheer2:

I also believe that, while she's not a great spinner, her spins have really high BVs as well. 3.2, 3.5, 3.5. She doesn't, for instance, have the extremely popular Layback at all, which is only a 2.7 BV.

Certainly but that's going to be very tough considering Medvedeva and all.
 
Adelina sotnikova is officially injured and will not compete this season. 😔
How could this keep happening? She's been suffering injuries for 2 seasons I think. Does one have a greater chance at injury if they're very flexible? Seems to me that those beilmann spins are back-breaking , and constantly contorting the legs is very harmful.

Sad news. I was hoping to see again her beautiful skating skills. She is one of the best in skating among with Carolina Kostner and Anastasia Gubanova.

She's not "very" flexible for a figure skater. And she's been injured since Sochi but has been well enough to do skating shows and Dancing with the stars, so if her flexibility was an issue it should also be limiting her ability to do those activities. I'm wondering if she has some type of contract similar to Lipnitskaia where it was setup through the 18 games so she's not able to announce retirement till after the Olympics. And why should she - she won the top prize in figure skating with an awesome skate, going out and continuing on the competitive skating scene and risk getting beaten by the new wave of Russian ladies would only hurt her brand.

Agreed! Especially when there is a Russian already poised to win the OGM, who even at Adelina's best will likely defeat her. I hope she recovers. She doesn't have anything to prove to anyone.

People wrote letters to the ISU protesting her win, and those are long forgotten in the trash having been disregarded. The ranting Is reduced to blog posts and angry YouTube comments on any video of a Russian ladies skater by the bots. Meanwhile, Adelina's a Russian celebrity with an Olympic gold medal still around her neck. *insert nail polish emoji* 💅

The news are true. So sad. I knew she was way too thin last season....
