2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Don't worry so about it, it's more a matter of reputation. Over time Ksyusha will merit it. Most importantly that she's training well. And have very promising coach. :cheer2:

Agree. Sevetlana Panova is so talented coach. Maria Sotskova, Anastasia Tarakanova, Alena Kanysheva, Ksenia Sinitsyna, Ksenia Tsybinova... I hope this list will become only longer and longer. :)

Protocol for seniors.

Nastya Gulyakova got two bonuses for her spins.

I really like some of the more unique positions she had in them, especially the Biellman variation in her Layback. Also, I keep getting surprised (and impressed) by how huge her jumps are. I haven't completely warmed up to her SP though (wasn't particularly fond of it in Brisbane either).

so basically gulyakova won because of spins and higher PCS. it's kinda laughable. i dont find her spins to be better than gubanova's. but i guess since gubanova messed up internationally the judgement will be harsh on her.
still if gubanova skates clean in the free she should win, because of higher BV, unless gulyakova attempts 3A and lands it

it's not the best of gubanova's performances, but does she deserves PCS lower than gulyakova? like really?
she still skates 2 times faster than her.
and the girl is competing in seniors. 29 in seniors it's like bradie tenell and courtney hicks level of PCS

That's okay. Now more important for Nastya overcome her puberty problems. :) And the main thing - if she will take 1st or 2nd places at two Russian Cup stages then we will see her at Senior Russian Nationals 2018!

Btw, at Nationals 2017 she lost PCS to Konstantinova... That's what I really don't understand.

Nastya Angelnova got hammered on her FS score last year because she had a rough SP. She doesn't have the political backing to make errors in the SP and recover even when she kills in the FS. Even Julia had the similar issues from the national judges the year she **cough cough** should have won Nationals. Eteri still wasn't as powerful then as she is now.

I finally got to watch Gubanova's performance. I'm so in love with this program! The StSeq is going to be one of my favorites this season and she captures the feel of the music throughout. She swells into and out of her turns with the feel of the music! I loved the Walley's into that Rippon 3lz  I saw just minor hiccups and do sort of think the score is low but that dress is stunning and the judges were probably just smitten with envy and held her back out of jealousy ;)

I hope she continues to grow with this program and we get to see it many more times. She's really becoming my favorite artist this sport has to offer.

She's in a class of her own when it comes to artistic side of skating, but she performed better year or two ago.
The movement was more fluid and natural, connection with music and hitting high notes were much more accurate. I think it's because of physical and psychological tension caused by jumping problems and puberty in general. She has it all inside, but at the moment she looks shaky outside.

Where is the video of that little girl on a TV show with Adelina and they asked her who she wants to be like when she grows up? :cool14:
It was her indeed! :laugh2:

TV host to little girl (looking at Adelina):
- who do you want to be like when you grow up?
Little girl:
- Yulia Lipnitskaya!

I'm sad that ppl keep forgetting about Anastasia Kostyuk when it comes to mentioning rising stars of russia/panova when alena & ksenia are often mentioned. Kostyuk placed 4th at Russian Nationals younger age last season just after the big 3 (tarakanova, shcherbakova and trusova), not to mention that she used to be the leader of the 04 pack when they were still doing their doubles (oh maybe that doesn't count anymore but just saying) she may not be progressing as fast as the other 3 but she's still a big talent so why always count her out???
