2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Interesting... is her jump technique good or is it more like Lena's?

She is originally from not famous Russian coach (don't know who it was). Then, she was moved to Goncharenko not so long ago. Her landings are much better than Elena's. But her free program - it's like Goncharenko's trying to make her the second Radio.

Wait, so there was a Russian junior competition going on ? And this new little girl won over nugumanova? Are videos up?

Its just first stage of Russian Cup. 1st of 5, if not count cup final.
In Russia each year is really big number of Junior competitions.
Also, Katya Kurakova - not "new girl", just Lisa Nugumanova is much stronger advertised.

Unfortunately, no livestream. But the video of each performance of each skater you can easily find at the link above.

Gulyakova got for a free program 133,01 (71,09+61,92) with bonus(es).
Lets see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Arqwc8yDLLg

And Gubanova only 122,61 (60,25+63,36) also with bonus(es). And with one deduction. :sad21:

But no bonuses in the protocol.

Well, what can I say?

1) My Angel is awesome  (but she was robbed in PCS for the free program)
2) Ksenia and Katya are awesome too. (Ksenia was robbed in PCS also)
3) I liked the judging! So many <. (It's better to catch it on local events than at internationals)

so Guylakova won, I guess this seals she gets a second JGP assignment. I kinda like that she is different from the tiny russian wonder kids, she is a glamazon compared to her peers.

Don't forget that she also bit older. For example, she have 2 years difference with Trusova.

Their both (Nastya and Nastya :)) got +1 Bonus point in their free programs.
I see it in the protocols. And you?

Yesterday there was "B" opposite the element which got the bonus. I don't see any. :(

Oh, now I got it. I can see there some postscripts outside of the table like deductions.

too much backloading for gubanova in my opinion. she's looked dead tired at the end, people may put blame on puberty, but obviously it's just not enough stamina to do 1+6

I think it's not because of the jumps. I doubt 3+4 or even 6+1 layout will help her. In the short program she also looked very tired with 1+2 jumps. Problem with stamina is probably one of the side effects of her puberty. I'm sure she'll handle it.

Wow...Gubanova's choreography does not disappoint. That swinging leg turn out of the axel directly into an illusion spin is brilliant. If she can time it up a bit closer with the wind chimes it would be so epic!

I think the way she uses her edges and pulls into and out of the choreography is contributing to her stamina issues. I hate to say it but maybe she needs to decrease her use of deep edges and reduce her involvement in the interpretation of the steps and save up for the second half. Her stellar presentation is what sets her apart from the rest but the judges don't reward it and it's tiring her out.

Nowadays it's all about maxing out jumps in the second half:cool:
