2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Too bad for Guliakova, with only 1 silver medal she cannot go to the final. Hope that next JGP season she will have 2 assignments.

In the JGP finals, I hope that Trusova can show a dimension of performance that she might have, but that she's not yet managed to properly show in the first two JGP events. As of right now, I'd probably find Kostornaya the most enjoyable one to watch but her chances to win are slim. In case of a clean skate, Trusova should be the clear winner of the JGPFs but if she has a fall(on the quad?), it's again going to be wide open. Tarakanova could be the favorite but she's rather shaky.

All in all, I'd like to see Trusova do well because I think that she has the most potential of the group and would probably do well with the confidence. I wish for clean skates for everyone there.

well it isn't her fault, they tested Sofia and Alena so late but the Fed shouldn't have given spots to "trainwreck" skaters like Fedichkina, Konstantinova and Gubanova.

this is not true, look at all their PB scores all in 197+, Samodurova, Kostornaia even Tarakanova have equal chance to win the gold as Trusova.

That's... not exactly what I was talking about. "PB" does not mean "clean". If you recall, Trusova's second JGP event where her FS was quite a bit worse and included a fall with a >> 4S that lost like 6 points, she still only was 1 point below her PB. Even treating a UR 4S as a "clean" jump, that still would have been enough for at least 203+ and when we add the increased PCS for the more clean program and improved performance(Hers really suffered there and her PCS was very low) it'd likely be closer to 205.

Also, while the others have their SB as high as you are saying, Samodurova does not.

So the 6 girls going to the jgpf are
Kostornaia, Trusova, Samodurova, Panenkova, Tarakanova, and.....?
5 Russians!!!!!!!😱😱😱😱

The last one is Rika.

They're far from 'trainwreck' skaters. Gubanova had a rough time in Salzburg but she just won Cup of Nice with two good skates and she was in JGPF last year, Fedichkina was less than a point off podium and also previously went to JGPF. Konstantinova won bronze in Minsk and could have gone to JGPF with another gold or silver with a high total score.

Vasilieva lost her original assignment altogether. There's just too many talents and not enough spots.

when I mean "trainwreck" skaters with uncertainty, Gubanova has issues with jump technique especially lutzes, fedichkina has issues with underrotations so she is always vulnerable and Konstantinova is simply not consistent, she should have skated to Cup of Russia as the senior host pick.

well... congratulations to russian girls for getting 2 medals at JGPF at the very least  (if everyone will be healthy of course)

Russian juniors vs World juniors - 15:9 :laugh2:

Interesting that the discipline that Russia is least dominant in is the men's. The trend continues? I wonder if it'll be like in Rhythmic Gymnastics where Russia becomes very dominant.

The pairs and ice dance junior teams aren't translating into dominance in the seniors?

not quite, russian junior lady skaters are even more dominant than RG at the moment in terms of depth.

I feel very very very very very scared of National this season. The bloodbath is just getting thicker.

Is she is old enough for seniors next year?

yes, she is already 15 and will be 16 next year, she will need to go to junior worlds to earn big points and a better SB to have a chance of getting a GP assignment next season if she competes as a senior.
