2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

no, i'm not:unsure: i just don't believe that anna will return to her previous shape. but of course i'll prefer pogorilaya at her peak to konstantinova anyday.
i have my hopes for polina, for the third spot. she's my absolute favorite. but again, i'm not sure how she will be looking throughout the season

Well, for sure they won't give to Konstantinova third spot in the team :))). They even didn't give her a second JGP event.
Konstantinova isn't consistent at all and doesn't have any international exposure. Her PCS would be really small even if by a miracle she would be clean.
In any case, my personal opinion is that Sostkova will get the third place, if the things stay normal (no injuries of any top contenders etc).

Polina is the most elegant girl today. That performance was like poetry.
Amazing jumps! She should be 1st!

I don't know why, but I find her skate empty in terms of emotions, of giving something to the public: joy, sadness, angriness, etc.
She's elegant, has high jumps, good skating skills, a lot of excellent abilities, but again it's like you look at a beautiful painting, you like the colours, but don't feel anything.

Polina!!! It's so good to finally see her skating again... I know JWC isn't even that long ago, but with all that injury stuff and all the worrying and anxiety about her over the off season I just can't help but feel ecstatic for seeing her again. Still the LP to go, but she looked so good again, I couldn't be happier. Please, please, please let this be a sign for the rest of the season!

Polina didn't do Biellmann position in the final spin at the end of the program, maybe because she's still not fully recovered? :(

Oh my god. Finally see Anna and Polina in competition, I'm so glad. And..clean skate from Serafima!!! She is such a lovely skater, so happy to see her do well :) Thank you, Plushenko.

Polina is so gorgeous on ice, beautiful presentation, huge delayed jumps, looking forward to see her new FP.

Anna's jumps make me nervous, hope that she can get better before GP. She is not in best shape now but the program has a lot of potential.

she's more consistent than radionova and sotskova, i will say. and more consistent, than most of the foreign ladies.
and i can't imagine that judges put her in the PCS lower than, let's say, karen chen, if she will skate at some event right after karen. she have more presence than most of the international senior ladies

real scores. no bonuses
1 Konstantinova 72.22 = 39.10 + 33.12
2 Tsurskaya 71.94 = 38.50 +33.44
3 Pogorilaya 68.80 = 34.72 + 34.08
4 Sahanovich 65.83 = 34.95 + 30.88
5 Istomina 63.61 = 33.41 + 29.20
6 Gulyakova 60.49 = 32.61 + 28.88

Intresting who'll go to seniors next year from current squad.. Any thougts?
Stanislava Konstantinova(finally)
Sofia Samodurova
Daria Panenkova
Anastasia Gulyakova
Anastasia Gubanova
Alisa Fedechkina
Ekaterina Kurakova (maybe through a lot of B events)
So Leonova will lose her spots and give it to someone else. And maybe someone else...

Daria's Seasons Best is 5 points higher than the cut-off for senior GPs, i.e. top 24, last season. It's not guaranteed but if so why hold her back - if Leonova retires there'll only be 7 of the 9 senior GP ladies on the senior GP next season (can't see Valeria Mikhailova being one of them - she must be counting her lucky stars she's got on there - and got a Senior Nationals spot).

Sofia's season best is also one point higher than last season's cut-off, but I can't see it being enough what with Olympic season inflation, plus there's already 3 first year juniors with higher scores - last year there were only 2 - Anastasiia Gubanova and Rika Kihira.

Few things from the videos Ibamda posted.

Stanislava was overscored again! great interpretation of the music (terrible cuts), and the layout was much more ambititious but she doesn't deserve 33 points on the components: she is still so sloppy, too much 2foot skating in the stsq, then i have something to say even about the TES because the two spins at the end were shaky.

Tsurskaya: great to see her back! She was a little more nervous this time obviously but she got it together; Interesting that she didn't have the biellmann here, i wonder if she is going to include it at some point or she won't because this season you can get level 4 on the layback spin even without it.

Pogorilaya: the best program here for sure. Love this spanish routine, great musicality, the final spin was messy unfortunately. Finally she ditched the i-spin.

Sakhanovich: She keeps skating better and better, i can already see the improvements. The program is good though the steps going into the 3lutz (the solo jump) aren't there, and she still has the cautious entry to the 2a.

Sima - I think it would be unrealistic to expect all her jump issues to disappear overnight; that kind of thing takes a lot of hard work. But I used to be afraid every time she launched into a jump. And now I'm not.

Sima: the most captivating skate of the evening.
Anna: unfortunately, her program is not as catchy as her last year short program, plus she was really focused on the elements and lost the connection with the public.
Polina: bland and emotionless
Stanislava: sloppy as usual, superficial involvement in the program. I sometimes like the flaws of a skater if these make him/her unique and give some colour, but here it's not the case. For example, I used to like Radionova's sloppiness because she was so authentic and really involved in what she skated.
