2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

There are a lot of competitions between now and February. Trying to predict the Oly team based on a few B competitions and a Cup of Russia is just silly.
What do you mean by "silly"? :scratch2:

It's second most important domestic competition in Russia, deciding on nationals spots and others, a constant showcase for feds and coaches.

Stoskova's third spot is lock?! Yeah, for sure! With Buyanova's magic. Don't know what impressed you in her skating. Sotskova was overscored. Also she was slow and boring, her spins will never get +3 GOE, barely +2. She always will lose in TES about 2-3 points because of that. All this club with Tukt, Radio and Mario have slow and bad spins. Anna's spins are still holding up.

And now I can't imagine Sotskova's scores at Russian Nationals. I bet it would be even bigger than at previous nationals. Buyanova needs someone at Olympics. She can't allow to Polina and Anna be higher.

This is only one event, it's the totality that matters and of course, Nationals will matter most of all. Do you think Stasya should go to Olys because she won here? And the Grand Prix makes no difference?

I wouldn't say Masha's spot is a lock... there's Polina. And if Anna gets her skates together, the fed will have no choice but to put her on the team if she skates well at nationals. But I'm betting on the third spot going to either Polina or Masha.

Masha also doesn't have the most exciting music, but I think Polina's suits her well. You never know, Stasya might make the team, but the way things are looking right now, JGP wise, I don't think that is a safe lock.

I am confused how Stanislava could possibly make Oly team she stayed junior this season?

Buianova's influence is undeniable but the Rus Fed hardly suicidal when it comes to Oly decisions. All Buianova's magic as you put it was not enough to keep Adelina in a team event

I personally think Stasya should go everywhere, because I'm fan of hers , but here I rather deduce feds' approach from the scores she's been getting. I adore her with all my heart, still 208 points is a bit of a stretch. Hence, I believe something is being cooked up there. :)

Olympics have no requirements for individual skaters, except age eligibility and national federation submission.

But she started already. She stole Kurakova's spot at RC to protect Radio. Because in her current shape Radio will lose to Kurakova, that's for sure. ABBA girl's chances are not so high to defeat Radio. But I will root for her, anyway. I want to see Buyanova's face when her student will lose to Mikhailova. Chances are very low, but still...

Wow! I don't even know where to begin here.

Too early to make assumptions.
Honestly, i´m pretty sure russian fed will look at how the skaters do at GP, and also how international pannels score them. And then, barred a major meltdown, score accordingly at the Nationals.

Because ummm, just saying, remember how the nationals were scored last year for ladies - the fed clearly stated their priorities.

Also, other feds and politics ^^ I´m about 95% certain that, if everybody skates clean, only 2 russian ladies will podium, no matter what. Looking at the scores japanese and canadian girls got at home, those feds will do their best to support their skaters. Also look at the scores Kostner keeps getting - she could end up on the podium even with 4 triples in FS.

:o:

I'm sorry, dear RemyRose. I know that you like Buyanova's students. It's just very unfair to me, when instead of competitive skater RusFed somehow send a girl without any chances, which took only 3rd place at Russian Cup stage one. With low scores even for local competition. 182.57 ABBA girl (62 PCS for the free program), 193.96 (58 PCS for the free program) Kurakova as a junior, I'm sure if she was competed as a senior, she would have even bigger overall score. If even Mikhailova got 62 PCS.

hating Eteri is too mainstream, let's hate Buyanova! :laugh2:

Buyanova hate is quite old, it comes back from 2014.
And there is even more drama, because there are all sort of gossips envolving those two, Eteri and Buyanova

This would be a good topic for offseason.

I don't get how it's soooo unfair that a junior skater skating in junior cup events didn't get a spot at a senior GP event. But I'm done. Continue to post your conspiracy theories if it gets you through your day. And I'll just ignore you.
