These are the skaters who have been to Juniors competitions then Senior Worlds, Euros and GPs and until to this day have no doping incidents. They have the advanatage to be invited since they have been tested more and in different levels of competitions thus proving how "clean" they are.

1. Leonova
2. Medvedeva
3. Pogorilaya (injured)
4. Radionova
5. Sotskova

Haven't been to Senior Euros or worlds thus lesser chance to "prove" they are clean.

1. Zagitova
2. Tsurskaya
3. Sakhanovich

My guess is that Leonova, Medvedeva and Radionova will get the 3 invitations from the committee unless they decide to follow what the Russian Fed(who some of the committee members hate right now) nominates which most likely Med, Zagi and Sotskova.

My understanding is that the Committee will invite the Russian athletes from the list submitted by the Russian Fed if these are clean. And I don't think they can prove that they were/are clean only if they participated at Euros/Worlds last year. I suppose they are also tested at GP events, GPF, junior Worlds? Anyway, I would appreciate if you can post the link with the selecting procedure here, for more clarity. Thank you in advance!

Since the Russian Fed no longer have the power to decide who the skaters are going the Olympics (they can nominate names to the committee but the committee will ultimately the one to decide who are the skaters that will be invited) is placement at the Russian Nationals still important? I guess for euros yes?

I suppose they can nominate exactly the skaters chosen at nationals and, since they have no history of doping, except maybe B/S, I dont really see what the committee can have against those.
For instance, for ladies at this point, the fed pick will be Medvedeva, Zagitova and Sotskova. Those 3 have no doping history, so there is no reason for the committee to decline any of those.

Now, based on your logic, I do not see how the committee could chose Leonova and Radionova over Sotskova, sincethose 2 hasnt been to Worlds and Euros last year, unlike Sotskova, which means more recent testing.

This is the understanding of an american judge from a close facebook group. Sorry can't tell her name. The committee can choose or not the names from the list who they deem the "cleanest". She is predicting Russia will name 6 skaters to the list.

To be honest I don't think IOC wants another big scandal on this topic... and this will happen if they don't invite the proposed Russian athletes, if these are clean.

That's true Sotskova has the latest results but then Leonova has proven she is skating clean for 10+ years. i would really love for Sotskova to go though since she has more realistic chance to medal.

Remember the the IOC is using the word "invitation". Russia is saying they will just provide the names to cut times instead of reviewing so many athletes since the committe only have little time. They only start in Mid-late January which is too late in my opinion

Do we know that? If they take Leonova ahead of girls like Zagitova and Sotskova, they can just drop Medvedeva as well =)

But on the other hand, by submitting certain names and not others it's like telling the skaters they don't submit - "Hey, don't even bother showing up to Nationals and trying to earn a spot on the Olympic team. We've already picked and submitted our faves."

It’s not really “our faves” though. Who’s more qualified to compete at the Olympics than Medvedeva, Zagitova and Sotskova?

I love Radionova with all my heart and would take her over Sotskova any day, but her chances are second to none I think.
