I remember after Nationals Sotskova said that it was probably the most stressful competition ever for her, she said everyone(skaters, coaches) was extremely nervous, walking with "gray faces", trying not to show their nerves. So yeah, it's not quite correct to say that it wasn't too stressful :) After all, huge respect for all those girls for being able to hold it.

Masha made it stressful for us all!! I swear...if I was a judge I would have tracked her down and yelled at her for stretching my patience and leniency to the max!! Good luck in the Olympics girl but let’s chill with the drama skates!
 
In general, Gubanova's not even that inconsistent. She only rarely has poor competitions. And yes, she's mostly skated clean this season. How many times has Konstantinova skated clean competitions? Really, Gubanova's a bit of an odd choice to point at for inconsistency because she really has been quite consistent overall. Has she been less consistent than Tarakanova? I don't think so, especially considering a combination of the past two seasons. Has she lost her jumps to puberty? That doesn't even make sense considering how often she's landing them. Is she going to lose them to puberty? Well, you look at her - not much puberty can do to her anymore. How many Russian post-puberty skaters even are more consistent than her? Medvedeva?

Have some reasonable expectations.

Lutz is a problem but unlike some others with an ugly lutz like Osmond, at least she doesn't flutz... But yes, that lutz jump always makes my heart stop.
 
Well, from the good side, at least at Junior Nationals will be many intrigues. Clean 4S from Sasha? Clean skating from Stanislava? Skate of the life from Nastya Gubanova? Attack of Panova's girls? Kurakova and Nugumanova's comeback? There will be many talented skaters who can easy reach 190/195+ points, if they are clean, of course. Very exciting event. I guess, for the nice impression, I'll need to wait the end of the SP/FP, then come to the channel TheFSRussia, download all videos and watch them all, and only then look at the results. But there might be a spoiler in the number of views, tho. Still better than await 10-20 minutes, while they're uploading each video. Ugh.

Formally it's about RusNat single ladies with detailed analysis of almost each one there. But in fact it's more deep - presenting very plausible theory about reputational judging system, why each skaters receives underscoring/overscoring in components/goes, discrepancies between their real strength and how they perceived by judges, expectations and strategies of RusFed considering next season, gp/jgp spots (simply put each skater has judge's mathematical expectation in numerical value from 1 to 10 which corresponds to their current/last season results and that influence greatly their goes/pcs score) etc. And no, I wouldn't dare to translate these tons of text :noshake: :p

I just remembered that this time, there were live streams of each Russian Cup stage! Except the last one, which was broadcasted on the another channel. I mean, I don't remember such broadcastings in the last season. So, maybe there is still a chance.
 
Sonya Federova is competing in Aspen this week (snowboarding) and is wearing her Olympic clothes. Not only does it say Russia across the back it has the flag on the sleeve. Thought it was interesting to note. I think she looks über cool in her OAR gear!! Own it!!

here's another recent tendency: when junior lady medals at russian nationals - she often wins the next one
Radionova: 2013-2014 (3rd place) -> 2014-2015 (champion)
Medvedeva: 2014-2015 (3rd place) -> 2015-2016 (champion)
Zagitova: 2016-2017 (2nd place) -> 2017-2018 (champion)

Kostornaya: 2017-2018 (3rd place) -> 2018-2019 (?champion?)

But with one exception: all these medalists were senior-eligible for the next season... Alena isn't. 😪 I doubt judges will give her the same PCS as to the seniors.
 
Canada (and Ted Burton!) is live streaming their novice and junior nationals in HD quality NOW.

I doubt there will be any stream from Russian junior in Saransk in three weeks at so much more deserving tournament. Oh Russia, why aren't you showcasing your most wonderful assets, it's the easiest international PR, everybody love your skaters! :confused2:

I remember that fantastic feed from Chelyabinsk 2 years ago - it was super fun. :thumbsup:

everything that Ted is doing is awesome, i have so much respect for this guy! he alone does much more for figure skating than all federations combined

Well, international streaming of JGPF was such PR to an extent. I am not saying that it (streaming) was our achievement though. And no, not everybody loves them - there are quite a handful of haters too.

Well, I think any country in the world would love to attain love/hate ratio of Russian figure skaters. :yes:

There is no doubt, they are fantastic ambassadors for Russia. :agree:

there are always some fans and some haters, but tars is right - our fed should've done something in order to make it more accessible for everyone to watch our future stars :)
