2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Zhenya - what a comeback! And silly mistake on the axel...
Alina - finally clean short program... What a legend... :dbana:
Carolina - what a sensational skating! That was awesome.

I have to say that I'm happy that Alina proved me that I'm wrong and she was able to overcome her fear in the short.

Alina is looking more comfortable in the short. That lutz loop is :eeking: Evgenia (minus the axel) is looking good. Caro looked fantastic.

What a competitions. I'm still in shock (or smth like that).
Happy about Alina, sad about Evgenia's mistake on the axel (great comeback anyway).
What a drama.

Yeah, and if both are clean, Zagi will remove the PCS gap in the free program, because of TES + 1.5 advantage after the short program. Who will win? 🤔

for me. It's all about Evgenia's recovery right now. I just glad to see her doing pretty well ALREADY!
She was so emotional today. She missed competitions so much! She even cried after!

I have to come back to the haven.
The comp threads are awful.

Alina: great job, cutie!!
Zhenya: not perfect, but hey, you were injured. Come back and show em tomorrow.

It's Evgenia's to loose. Wish them all the luck at Saturday.

No, it's Alina's to lose. The PCS gap is almost gone and Alina has her on TES. If she's clean tomorrow, she has it. Which means, it's Alina's Olympics to lose then.

But honorable mention also to Maria. Unfortunately, she couldn't jump clean her gorgeous 3Lz today. Also one of the spins looked very slow. But overall pretty good. Sad that almost ~10 points gap between her and Carolina.

I think Zagitova performed that program much better than in the past. It's great if she's managed to get her nerves under control and will be able to skate it as well as she skates in practice. That's always what'd be preferred. With her TES, Medvedeva really has a tough time competing if Zagitova gets PCS like this. And also, Zagitova's potential TES advantage will become even greater when entering the free skate. The good news is that this was the first time she skated her SP that I actually found quite enjoyable to watch - So it seems like she has actually managed to control her nerves and stiffness somewhat and actually interpret the song better. Still has ways to go in my opinion but it will be interesting how the showdown between these two will do.

Kostner I don't really consider a huge threat because while it was expected that she could really deliver for the SP, she really struggles with making her FS content difficult enough to compete.
