I always loved Gracie and still do. Hope she can come back stronger than ever. But--Bradie is more consistent than Gracie ever was. I always held my breath when Gracie skated, like please,please don't fall. With Bradie I don't ever feel like she might fall. Sure she has and will again but to skate like she did at Nationals is pretty darn amazing,
I don't think its because of Ashley at all. In fact I don't she factors much when it comes to the majority of criticism of Bradie. It comes from mostly rabid Mirai fans who think she should have won because she didn't bomb. The nationals threads, and this thread immediately after, are filled with how Mirai was robbed, her PCS marks should have been higher, she would definitely do better then Bradie internationally no question about it, the USFSA would never let Mirai win its rigged for Bradie, etc.

It would have been a huge story for them and a publicity boon. To have a comeback champion ten years later, and after all those tragic images of her from 2014, you couldn't write a more sensational script. Especially with the upcoming Games, they would have promoted this narrative to the high heavens. If Mirai had landed the axels cleanly in both programs and Bradie still won, okay there might be a problem. But she didn't, and had some other mistakes, and that's simply what happened. Do I think Bradie should have had higher PCS than Mirai, Ashley, or even Karen? No, not really, but it was a moment and I understand. She definitely won, and it's not like a few gratuitous PCS points were going to make a difference. And sure, I did make some snarky comments about how she's getting coronated as the next Gracie 2.0 or something dumb like that, but it was all in good humor. They were blatantly propping her up and it was quite funny for a minute, but it was also harmless in the grand scheme of things (imo). The judges at the Olympics will bring Bradie back down to Earth, and if she has a nice showing, it will set her up well for the future. It's not like Mirai is the PCS queen or anything, and that it would have made a difference in her final placement. That's Ashley's shtick and it's why she's pissed isn't it? I don't see how a Mirai vs Bradie narrative slots in here cause it's pretty clear who won.

Mirai fans are cray cray and always have been. Just look at their reaction to the perfectly justified and correct decision to bump her in 2014 (albeit if they were to have anger ever over it, it should be today, not then, as taking Edmunds over her is heavily inconsistent with Miner-Zhou, but that is a whole other topic), and their continued whining she didnt win the Olympic bronze in 2014 despite that she missed by a whopping 13 points or so.I would ignore them, they arent worth the time of day, never have been.
