It's more like she simply stepped down, and yes it could be a bit smoother but he did not drop her like a sack of potatoes, huh? Maybe it will look much better come Nationals or even later. The version that they do in the SD is smoother and a lot more impressive. What I admire the most about them right now though is how smoothly and powerfully they skate, the other things hopefully will come in time.

That may be the case, IYHO, but IMHO, when I watch them together I don't see the dissonance that you see. I actually see two IDs that have only been skating together for two months and they look decent. But hey while most persons were attracted to Mrs. Morozov at Nationals I was into him, so as they say, to each their own

EDIT: Snow63, you may be right about the power issues to some extent but I do like what I see here. He's a refined, elegant skater. But right now they need more time.

Ushakova/Nekrasov are going to be the saviors of Russian ice dance and nobody else!
Honestly, I found S/K already slow during test skates at least in the step sequences, but it's still very early in the season, so that's probably going to improve.

I don't believe it. S&K have plenty of weaknesses, but slow isn't one of them. I haven't seen them live since Worlds 2016, but they were fast. Faster than any of the other top Russian teams, including B&S the two times I saw them over the past couple years. You simply cannot judge speed on the screen. S&K may not be up to high-speed with their new programs at this stage, and if they've added footwork, it may slow them down relative to a previous program (usually happens). But I sincerely doubt they are slow.

There was a CV circulating that didn`t mention him skating with Elena and some thought he left her out on purpose. Looks like he didn`t write that CV but some agency.

I don`t think so! They go with the rhythm of their dance and improved much from the test skates, IMHO.
I like it! But even more their FD!

I think that music gives the impression of slowness no matter if they were actually slow or not. That SD is pretty personality-less and that's one of the more unmusical pattern steps I've seen so far. I also think they and B/S add on a fast Latin piece at the very end (for like the last 20 seconds or so) that it makes it just seem tacked on and thus not cohesive with the other portion of the SD.

Hmmm, between Sinitsina/Katsalapov and Stepanova/Bukin I would go with S/B in the Short Dance. They also don`t have a brilliant program, but I find that Stepanova deals better with the rhythm than Sinitsina. Concerning the Free Dance, S/K go with old-fashioned Russian drama, but S/B`s music is so atrocious that I just can`t get past that. It`s definitely going to be interesting to see with whom the Russian Fed will go as their #2 throughout the season.

I think it will S/B...They have TAT promoting them and I guess she has still much to say!
