I don't think so. I think she's already in Moscow and had time in her training schedule to give commentary. Sara Hurtado conducted interviews with competitors during the 2015-2016 GPF while she was training and looking for a new partner.

I think so, too. Supposedly she's not hired or something, tv asked her to comment on this very competition.
BTW, if the person that I heard commentating is really Elena, then she will be much better skater than commentator
It would be a pity if she really retired. Hopefully not.

I doubt she retired out of nothing - she and Anton moved to Alexei Gorshkov few weeks ago. Apparently they will compete at RN in December.
In no situation is it decided that the abused is better to stay with abuser. It is always finding a way to get them when they are alone and then place them in a secret and safe place. Seems like Vika was totally abandoned by people in canton as they saw it beneficial to them to have her be in a very bad partnership that’s could turn fatal any day.

Canton could not control Vika. In DV work, the best way to help victims is try to find a time to get them away from the abuser and tell them you can be counted to help and to tell them that you see signs of the abuse, so that way the abuse victim knows someone else knows (and it's hot as hidden as the victim thinks it is) and know where they can turn for help. In many situations, victims go back to the abuser and the cycle happens again. However, it takes time and patience and when the victim is ready to leave they'll know they where they can go. You can't force someone out of the situation or physically restrain them. By making a big show out of it and bringing public attention, you still have the risk of the abuse victim going back to the abuser and then you're totally cut off from helping. Plus the violence may escalate because the abuser will blame the victim for making other people notice. It has to be the victim that makes that step herself/himself.
Anyway, the rest of what you and others are saying about the people in Canton are simple suppositions on your part. Nobody knows what was done by the people at Canton. All the rumors have said were that a lot of skating parents and skaters saw what happened since it happened in a public or semi-public session, so rink management had to do something as people didn't want to see that behavior on the ice. In the end, we know Vika ended up going back to Nikita and they both left for Russia. It's not some diabolical plan to sabotage them by a competitor's parents as you're making it out to be. I mean it's dramatic in a soap opera way, and juicy, but it's just a story you made up.
When abuse happens in public everyone has the right to speak about it and go to the media and make everyone aware. It’s not a private discussion where Vika told people about it and then they decide to go to the press. The extreme and brutal abuse happened in public so not going to media doesn’t make any sense.

Stepanova and Bukin got the same levels as the Shibutanis.
Bobrova and Soloviev had a problem with the spin - a first in a long time, otherwise they'd have the best tech score, seeing that they were awarded a lvl 4 for their CiSt.
So?
B/s lost cup of Russia. Nothing to be happy about. They tech problems always exist because they have the worst in tech coaching. Just like worlds short dance.
What good is having same tech as shibutani if you have worst program of season. S/b must immediately change their free dance.

I think you don't even know what else you want to complain about at this point. If Zhulin was the worst in coaching them I doubt they'd be getting those level 4s they got today and yesterday - and some might want argue about Samokhin being the specialist, but let's not forget the others in the tech panel who could challenge his decision if they wanted to.
They made a mistake in a spin, and those kind of mistakes happens. On the other hand a circular step sequence level FOUR doesn't often happen. So I'll say it's okay with the tech for now.

Really, B/S have really strong technique. It's one of their strenghts - soft knees, good edges, nice speed. Of course, those weird programs aren't helping at all but technically they are among world's best.
S/B aren't.

Well, after they gave a TES of 52 to P/M they had no choice but to give the rest of the couples relatively sane TES without going into P/C and V/M territory. I mean, they need to have some shred of validity in the ice dance community. But Samohkin, was just special today. Special, I tell you.
Puhlease, you wash my back I'll wash yours next week. The real scores come at EC, 4CC, WC and OG.

P/M scored almos the same at Nepela, a quite modest CS in the scores. Also, in Nepela the Parsons were deemed to be the destroyers of Russian ID - when at COR they kissed the bottom of the barrel because of themselves.
Eh, the Shibs scored three points over a team with a big problem on a spin and another one that barely cracks the top 10 at worlds - and they are #1 in the US and were at the world podium for the last two seasons. I'd be pretty pissed if I was the one that made the deal, to be honest. Unless they were changing the scores on the fly, that FD for the Shibs was hardly a good omen - and most of the judges were pretty on board with them.

Exactly my point, on which earth could S/B approach the Shibs in TES? Though considering how monotonous both are, maybe they should be only 3 points away from each other. Neither P/C or V/M are losing much sleep over ANY couple that competed this weekend. Not one.
Yes and they still didn’t win. Because they got a level 2 spin.
There’s always a mistake. It’s something more. It’s the training. It’s very bad.

My favorite part of the score is S/B getting more points for twizzles than Shibutani.
It's not that they have one of the worst twizzles in the field, not at all.

After watching both B/S and S/B free dances back to back I think that one reason some people/judges might prefer S/B over B/S is that S/B`s free dance, despite its terrible vocals, is more accessible. The concept is very easy to understand, they are a couple in love, while B/S`s concept goes deeper. But I don`t believe B/S have anything to worry about, they received 2,67 more in PCS and without that mistake on the spin, they probably would have won the competition. Now, I`m curious to see how S/K will be scored at NHK. It looks like the Russian Fed is backing S/B as their future #1 and if they keep skating like this weekend, it will be hard to beat them for the 2nd Olympic spot.
