2017 World Ladies FS

I do hope the girls absorbed all bad juju from that ice and Men are going to have great skates to make up for the Ladies.

Go Canada! This is historic. (Gabby got my standing O; would've switched their placements). I can't express how much love there was for Anna P. in the arena.

I wil confess to never thinking they'd retain their positions. I mean, I thought one of them might, but both? if Kaetlyn can up her tech in the second half, I really think she'll be more competition for Evgenia... there were virtually no jumps in the second half and that's where she's losing out big time. I also think Gabi could go for harder jumps. She has flight time to spare... she is the best jumper of the top 3 in terms of height and landing speed. Consistency and combos obviously go to Evgenia. You know Gabi will definitely be focused on that with her team. She's gotten this far now so you know she'll keep building.

I"m almost teary eyed at this result!!! I keep remembering the 90s and before Joannie broke on the scene... it was a desert landscape in Canada for ladies... not now!!!

Pogo is due for a melt down. And she didn't disappoint.

Look at her record. 4th in W14, 13th in W15. 3rd in W16. 13th in W17.
Good thing is next year is her good year. I expect her to be in the hunt for an Olympic medal.

Osmond needs to build up her consistency to build up judges respect further to have a shot vs a clean Medvedeva. It wont happen overnight. She needs to show the judges the kind of consistency Medvedeva has for 2 whole seasons now.

See, I just dont get this. The judging is done on respect for consistency in past seasons? What about the skaters that did not have consistency over several seasons?

Thought it was just supposed to be judged on what was done on the ice for each separate competition.

Tara L, Sara H. come to mind.

What a wild and terrible competition.

Congratulations to Evgenia for both her impeccable mastery of figure skating and her lovely pronunciation of the English language. I imagine she is a genius.

Very happy for Osmond, Daleman, and Team Canada! You earned it fair and square. Nicely done.

Mai Mihara -- yes, girl, yes!

Congratulations to Laurine, Ivett, Zijun, Angelina for hanging in and fighting tough. You ladies are so inspiring to me and make the world a more beautiful place.

Anna Pogorilaya-- La Duchesse-- rise again-- conquer everything.

Karen Chen just secured the US 3 spots for the next season and Olympics when people wanted her off the Worlds team just a few weeks ago

So happy for her that she got 4th at her very first World Championships!

Congrats to all the medalists who skated extremely well! It's a historic podium for sure :)

Giving extra props to Mai Mihara who moved from 15th to 5th. Japan loses 3 spots, but I was a great comeback :)

Someone pinch me. Did that just happen? Did my girls (Kaetlyn) hold on for the FS?!! Do we have the 2017 World Silver and Bronze Medallists?! Going into an Olympic year!?

:hap10::dance3::dance2:

Well with how things usually go, I guess we'll see mostly clean skates from the men tomorrow since the ladies weren't today.

Oh Canada, Oh Canada! The Habs are going to the playoffs with one of the best records and Kaetlyn and Gabby are finishing their season as #2 and #3, respectively, in the World. The month of April is so sweet!

Just want to say again, CONGRATS to Karen. So many do not give her the credit she deserves and many more just several months ago thought she should change coaches. She continued doing what she always does and what can be said about the 2017 season other than, Karen Chen is the US Champion and months later put up a showing at Worlds that very few thought she would, well done kiddo!

I agree. Good for Karen to bounce back after her poor 4CC performance. I hope this will give her some much needed confidence going forward.

Congrats to all the medalists! I would have had Gabby in second, but that's a minor quibble.

I agree (go HABS!!!!). Ecstatic for Canada today. With more good results to come tomorrow hopefully. Karen did well--props to her.

Congratulations to the Canadian ladies for their medals and their 3 spots. And to Karen Chen, for saving the USA's spots!

Sad for Japan, though, especially after Mai had such a redemption skate.

My hats off to Zhenya and Sui/Han for going from interpreter a year ago to interpreterr-free now. What superhumen :jaw:
Oh, and I've realized that Mai had the second highest TES of the night :dance3:. She's positioning herself well for an Olympic spot.
Congrats to 3 medalists, all with different styles and I'm charmed by all. But now I can see how Zhenya set herself apart. Aside from her TES, I think her upper body movement is second to none and she never missed a note.

And if I'm not mistaken with the score that Karen put up she just opened the door for 3 US ladies to be sent to Pyeongchang (fact checkers have at it)........
