2017 Worlds Helsinki Info and Chat

Does anyone have any info on where and when small medals ceremony take place or is it open to fans? Also will they be doing fans Q&A with the medallists like last year?

I'm pretty sure the sm ceremonies are going to be in the media centre, so not open to fans :(

I asked to the official and got a reply today as follow,

"Hi, Yes, there will be open to public ceremonies. Stage is in the 3rd floor(Balcony level)."

Great. That's nice. Earlier they replied that the spectators can't go and watch it.

That's great! I was told it was not accessible to the public, too. But great that they've decided otherwise :)

My husband just said that the weather forecast for Monday is +14C and sunny!!! (Although the other forecasting company only says +7)

I've just arrived home from a small weekend trip. I would like to join you to Salve, but I am not able to come Helsinki then. We are just moved in the beginning of the year and I have a meeting on Monday evening and some other things to do concerning our apartment in the town we lived before and we still have that apartment. I'll be in town where my brother lives near Helsinki late Tuesday evening.

There is weather forecast, which is on my opinion the most reliable: http://ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/saa/helsinki?forecast=daily It is in Finnish, but pictures are good and you can see the temperature (Celsius).

Worlds will be my first live figure skating event and I am super excited.
I have level 4 tickets, but I understand they are quite far away from the ice.
Question: Do people bring binoculars or anything like that, or does it suffice with the big screens?

However, on the coloured schedule there only appear small medal ceremonies for FS/FD, but not for SP/SD? (i'm confused).

Sorry not to see you there, TT Fin, but when we meet at Salve we'll arrange a second meet up at the arena and let you know the details.

You'll be able to see most everything on the big screen, but if you have binoculars, I would bring them in case you want to see something not shown on the screen - a skater's reaction to another skater, a disgruntled coach, officials debating etc.

Oh no. Just noticed that the leader of the competition is maybe the most hated lady (politician) at the moment in Finland. Sorry, politics does not belong here, but she may got some boos there, so do not surprised if that happens. No more politics, just noticed it.

Who are you talking about? I couldn't find any information when I tried to google it (I tried both in Finnish and English) and now I'm curious...

It was two year old article. I tried to find out something concerning the competition by google, do not remember any more what it was, and found the article. The one who talks about the road payments (AB). It was in Iltasanomat or Iltalehti and I read a few comments and already then many people did not like it, even she was not so unpopular as now. But lets not talk about the politics any more, just notice it may cause some reactions if the situation has not changed.

It would be very kind of you. I can read this conversation by my phone in train also, but it is little bit irritating to write by my mini-size phone. On wednesday morgning I'll be there.

Also Waxel? And TTFinn? So around 11 people. I'll make the booking 7.30 - hopefully that's OK for most of you.

That is really good of you, thanks! Just to let you know that waxel is one of the people who will be with me. He's the American gentleman, although he had a bit of a laugh at said title...

I'm going to Helsinki next week & hope I'll be able to meet up with other fans.
I've been to Helsinki before but it will be my first time attending a World Championships. I'm really looking forward too it, especially the Pairs.

Welcome :) Remember to take some woollen socks and mittens. It can be cold in the morning & evening. It was - 3 C this morning.
I love the pairs, too ( and of course the others).

Hi, I will be in Helsinki from Sunday and would love to meet someone to make small talk, discussions, lunch together. I am available for your initiatives.
