so we just have to wait for Waka to graduate? you guys this is a great observation! I'm glad I went here cause my hopes jumped back up.

Remember that super spinner girl from the jgp? The one who’s layback was a blur? How is she doing? I remember her jumps were very iffy but I don’t think anything else was really wrong. Any practice videos or updates on her career going forward?
You mean Akari Matsuoka ?
Her FS at Brisbane - ISU JGP 2017 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV5QQswgVYs

She was born on 2004/3/27, so 14yo now. Her coach is Koji Okajima, = Wakaba’s coach
Her result at Junior National 2017 was 16th.

Her spin was really impressive, isn’t it?
Hopefully she can improve her jumps in the next season, like Wakaba!

Yeah, Matsuoka is a good skater, her spins are her strength. But she really need to work on the rest. She could still be a top lady in Japan, it’s not too late, she’s so young!

And Nana is awesome! She’s shown some good programs and her jumps are great! Wait, isn’t she the one with the big 3Lz?? I’m not sure, there are so many junior ladies! [emoji23]

Thanks!
One of the best layback spins I ever saw!

Yes, she is!!! actually Nana has a 4Lz and even a 5Lz but she also has mercy with her oponents so she only shows her big 3Lz in competitions

Next GP season might be tough again for Wakaba. Something tells me that she will be sent to CoR again. Osmond will get Skate Canada, Satoko NHK and i don't see them sent to Russia's cage of lions (with possibly Medvedeva and Zagitova). They'll surely get neutrals CoC and GP France or Skate America for Satoko. So Likely CoR for Wakaba.

Yes, Waka will very likely be at CoR, and CoC again IMO. Kaetlyn gets SC, Satoko gets NHK. So assuming nobody wants back to back events, Kaetlyn has CoR or IFD as her 2nd event left and will likely take IDF. Which would leave Satoko with SA and Waka gets CoC & CoR.

It's hard to say beyond that right now how things will turn out. But Waka already had a tough field this season and managed fine, so I'm optimistic she'll be okay again, even if she gets more bloodbath fields.

I think next season wakaba will get NHK and Satoko CuR as NHK traditionally always invited the best lady of last season ...

Satoko is national champion and was the one to go to the Olympics (instead of Waka). It's going to be her at NHK.

Yes Satoko will have NHK, as national champ, olympian and world medalist, even if Wakaba was ahead of her at worlds. Even without the world medal she surely would have get that.

It is too early to try and guess anything though. We don’t know what next season might bring us.

Marin Honda will get GP spots? I’m hoping that with her change of coach she will improve considerably. I see her as someone who has everything to be a top skater, she just lacked focus(main ingredient). But maybe now she’ll get in the right mindset and have a great season.

I agree, although Wakaba was the only Japanese to qualify for GPF. The National championship and popularity in Japan favors Satoko.
