2018-19 Ladies' power ranking

Satoko's main issue are her jumps currently. Yep, they may not call them UR
but the GOE cap is obvious - there is no way she should get +4 or +5 on any of her jumps under the current system.
Meanwhile, skaters like Alina or Kaori can get +4/+5.

You mean Alina with her uncalled 3Lo< in both programs of Nebelhorn? They sure gave her some +4/+5 for those...

To be fair Kihara is not artisticaly better developped than Zagitova yet. And while Satoko has superb SS, lines, positions and atention to details she didnt interpret the required music better (comparing to Kaori for example, Satoko was just more pleasant to watch from a TV screen). She lacked (at SA) intensity and extrovertness for a tango programme... So no, her PCS shouldn be that high like you think - for now! I think she was judged in components exactly like it supposed to.
EDIT: Even Bradie didnt have best performance at SA, my opinion is still the same - Alina, 'Kihara' and Bradie are favourites for world medals. If Satoko stays 'clean' she could challenge that podium. Zhenya's next outgoing could change my opinion too

w- ?! Satoko didn't interpret the music better than Kaori? her tango lacked intensity? Did we watch the same programs at Skate America? I love Kaori, but Satoko's interpretation abilities are worlds beyond Kaori and Bradie....

While Rika is not naturally musical or an artist, she spends a good amount of training time focusing on developing that aspect. Therefore her lines, extensions, movements are already more developed than Alina's.

Alina is the opposite. She is naturally very musical but doesn't have the guidance and her team doesn't focus on developing her artistry, therefore her performances only rely on natural talent and musicality, but it lacks extension, posture, good, meaningful choreography, heck, she doesn't even finish most of her movements. So for now, I'd place Alina behind Rika artistically, as well as in PCS as both have insane Transitions, but Rika also wins in the Choreo and SS.

Didn't really look URed. I went back and looked and it was fully over the blade and backwards, at least to me...and I would give that a 4, or a 5 even.

My current presumption for a top 6 power list:
1. Zagitova
2. Tennell
3. Kihira
4. Medvedeva / Tuktamysheva
5. Miyahara
6. Lim / Hendrickx

After 1st GP my presumption gotta change a bit:
1. Zagitova
2. Miyahara
3. Kihira
4. Sakamoto
5. Tennell
6. Medvedeva

on the +5/-5 issue:

Alina could not get +4 or +5 on most of her jumps and this is me speaking as a devoted fan. The only one that could merit a possible +4 is her flip. The only ladies who really can get +5 in my opinion are: Kaetlyn, Kaori, Polina, Carolina, Karen, Maria, Wakaba, and Elizaveta.

in terms of power rankings:

1. Alina Zagitova
2. Rika Kihira
3. Evgenia Medvedeva
4. Satoko Miyahara
5. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
6. Kaori Sakamoto
7. Bradie Tennell
8. Mai Mihara

I said the same about her abilities. But abilities are one thing and what skater did on ice is another. I didnt say her performance was not good, i just said that it should be better for higher marks (you think she deserved) - tango requires a little bit different type of performance and interpretation and you can watch this year RD to see that!

I'm not sure what you looked at (or more so how you looked at it) but this post upthread already made the issue pretty clear:

My top 5 so far:
Zagitova: Well, big fed, big reputation, biggest potential scoring, difficult tech contents + great execution
Kihira: Difficult tech contents +great execution, great potential scoring.
Miyahara: People need to see that her jumps won't put her down. TPs and judges currently act like she's one of the best jumpers. I don't see the tremendous improvement of her jumps, but TP and judges do apparently. Someone who can put a 75+ in TES and a 70+ PCS (can be close to 75) on the table is necessarily in the mix.
Kaori Sakamoto: Good scoring potential. With 33 and 67 PCS she's competitive.
Tuktamysheva: She seems to be back. With a clean SP (4 triples) she can hurt a lot. And the tech potential in FS is good too.

I like how the posts are talking about these skaters as if they were video game characters

TUKTAMYSHEVA used TRIPLE AXEL!

MEDVEDEVA FAINTED!

"choose the weapon for your character"
Rika Kihira: 3A-3T
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: 3A
Alina Zagitova: 3lz-3lo

"3...2...1...fight!!!"

I have a hard time with any power rankings until I see skaters on the GP. Challengers are nice- but they don’t always translate to the GP circuit. If you Falter there it doesn’t matter how well you did in a challenger event.

For example- Bradie looked impressive at Autumn classic but was lacking at SA relative to the other top ladies (I was there).

Until I see Alina, Med, Liza, and Rika at the GP where pressure is much higher I’m withholding judgment.

And then someone unlocks Trusova.

Up, Up, Down,Down, Left, Right, Select, Start

If you hold Lb and Rb while you do it you’ll unlock Tina

I’m not telling you how to unlock the hover board:devil:

I thought this thread was for ladies competing in seniors?

I think you missed the word "unlocks" in the post by moriel. Trusova will be unlocked next season. Wonder if 4F will be a new move she learns.
