2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Lets try to stick to Russian ladies in this thread. There are so many great Russian ladies to discuss that we should not have to bring up skaters from other countries. People shouldn't do it on either side. Don't use this thread to bash Carolina or Kaetlyn and don't use this thread to set up debates about who is better when it comes to non Russian ladies vs Russian ladies.

Thanks.

It's my two favourites!!

Anna SHCHERBAKOVA
Anastasia TARAKANOVA

Quick Update

1. Trusova is not on the subs list
2. Plushenko clearly taking tips from Eteri about travel planning. He has Artem and Nastya at the same JGP.
3. Still no JGP for Kostyuk/Sinitsyna/Gulyakova

If she gets rewarded for a quad that is a half rotation short due to prerotation

- is it the same achievement as one fully rotated in air?

- is it respectful to women to say it's okay to prerotate because she's female?

- is that amount of repeated torque on her ankle due to prerotation a formula for her to be another skater whose injured out at 17 or 18?

But if you hold everyone else to that same standard, then that would mean all the major podium finishers last season shouldn't have been rewarded for their jumps because their triples were half a rotation short due to prerotation. Sasha's quads are just as valid as Evgenia, Alina, and the top non-Russian skater's triples. There is a reason someone like Radionova with her minimally pre-rotated lutz didn't reach top 5 at nationals when all the others did, prerotation and all. Same with other nationals

Yay Tarakanova got her JGP spot!!!!!! Canada along with Shcherbakova!!!!! Here we goooooo

I’m so excited especially after her mess ups in the free skate I was really nervous but considering that this went in after test skates they must not be holding that against her . She has now six or so weeks to work on her programs and get them as good as she can and fill in all the remaining blanks on her programs.

:palmf: whatever you say, 可以不挂着国旗撒泼吗?

Congratulations Nastya for getting a JGP! It must have been a difficult off-season for her, after being off ice for so long, then changing coaches and redoing the programmes in such a rush. Hope being in the 4th JGP would allow her some time to familiarise with her new programmes. I sincerely wish her victory.

Looks like Sinitsyna isn't getting a JGP. I am furious. Honestly, she should have Gubanova's spot at this rate. Ksusha was marvelous at test skates and Gubanova didn't even come.

Or she should have had Shcherbakova's spot. That girl does not deserve a second JGP before Sasha/Alena.
Even if the entry list is not final.

It may be that they haven't updated the earlier start lists yet. I really do hope we see Sinitsyna on the JGP this season, she's doing programs that most seniors wouldn't dare to skate, she deserves to compete internationally.

They can't give Trusova JGP3 and JGP4, they're only five days apart and one of them is in Canada.....

I don’t understand. All the spots haven’t been announced have they? And doesn’t Sinitsina have an influential coach?
What did the federation dislike about her at the test skates? I think she was pretty much clean except for a few labored looking jumps.
