Besti is not "all of the Russian FS community". She is just one particular person who decided to clime her soapbox and speak her sentimental opinion. We are ok to agree or disagree with her. BTW, this video is very good example of how people from different camps (team Alina -vs- Zhenya clan) could discuss things in a civilized and respectful manner. Without generalizing like: "Russian sport press is evil", "Russian FS is hell", "Alina's fans are crazy", "Zhenya's fans are rude". Etc. There are actually some rather good opinions there, they were voiced towards the end of this talk-show. It explains partially why Zhenya was a bit more (just probably a bit bit bit tiny more) supported by a high-rank retired skaters and Russian FS establishment as an athlete who struggled with an injury and worked a bit harder (longer) for her Olympic medal and why Alina was probably more of a people's popular choice and sentimental favorite, because she is younger, naive and shy. Besti liked Zhenya better as she admitted because they all seen her putting a bit more seasons and medals under her belt and dominating a for a longer time, so naturally some/many Russian retired skaters could relate to that a bit more since the general opinion among them was the simple thought that Zhenya worked longer and trained a bit harder for her hypothetical gold. That is probably exactly what Trankov and Besti are trying to say. People, hide your pitchforks. We can disagree or agree with them. But it doesn't mean they want Alina to fail. Besides, there are other Russian experts and ex-skaters/coaches like Butyrskaya which were more Alina's fans because of her difficulty and charisma.
I don't give a rusty hoot who Bestie or Bobrova or Trankov or TAT was "rooting" for to win.
But when you start saying things like "enduring Zagitova's whims" - that is insulting.
And questioning the fairness of the results.
And their timing is impeccable. They wait until Alina has a competition coming up and start chattering away like magpies.
Trankov right before Rostelecom. Now Bestie right before the Grand Prix Final.
So, IMO they do want Alina to fail or at least get into her head.
This isn't random people on twitter or a FS forum. These are big names in Russian FS.
This would be the same as if Dick Button, Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, etc.... complained that Michelle was "robbed" by Tara.
But no, nobody said anything like that. And certainly not 9 months later.
IMO they show no class at all. They come across as the "mean" kids in school. Only they are supposedly adults.

no matter
