2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Kamila Valieva moved to Eteri
This is confirmed?

My earlier post from three weeks back:

Kamila Valieva would be a pretty logical choice. Good body type, already good in many ways. Rather good jump height. Features that many will never have(Flexibility). Born at exactly the right time(in line with Zagitova and Lipnitskaya). On a less influential skating school which means that she'd be more likely to seek to change her coach in the first place.

I think there'd be quite a bit of potential there.
:agree:

It's ironic how some trolls who are talked back here start to complain about that in other threads....

If this one is erased I hope that the one with complaints is erased as well to make it even.

Does that mean Anna is in a semi-retirement state now?:(

Serafima did well there. Heck...she finished top ten at Nationals and turnedcsome heads with a surprise GP appearance. This could be a good thing.

If Anna P is indeed going to Plushenko, I can't think of a more perfect fit. Plushenko certainly has experience bouncing back from his myriad of back issues and would certainly be able to relate to what she is experiencing.

I´m not entirely trusting this move. Imho, Plushy yet has to prove himself as a top coach.
On the other hand, any move is good for Anna at this point (her relationship with her previous coach seemed pretty stained at her last international appearance). Also, Anna has potential to challenge the top ladies, and I am sure that Plushenko will focus on her because of that.

I hope the legend can spark Anna's comeback. But her health must improve first and foremost.

Anna P needs a coach that could teach her how to fall. Her previous coach had obviously failed to do so, and I hope Plushy could do that.

I'd prefer him to teach her how not to fall at all, or as rarely as possible. Plushenko with Anna would be an interesting experiment, if I may call it like that. He is still an unknown quantity as a coach, but with Serafima there were promising signs. His strengths and experiences could fill a few gaps in Anna's career, not only regarding back injuries but also in the realms of mentality and presentation. With all her successes I think she has never maxed out the latter and there is still growth potential if he can really help her overcome her current crisis.

I feel like Tarakanova can as well retire. Trusova has 3 diff quads 4Lz 4S 4T. Kostornaya has 3A and backloads everything else, who knows? Maybe she’ll backload the 3A as well, she’s also training the 4T. Shcherbakova had the fully-rotated 4T3T3Lo combo last season and I’m sure she’ll pick it back up soon. Tarakanova has nothing, she’ll never even have a chance to go to junior worlds with these three, not to mention others. I don’t see her having a future in FS.

Exquisite girl.....always loved watching her skate...Her facial expression is always of sadness. Hope good health follows her.

Anna P. is moving to Plushenko? Is there any official article on this? She really needed to move from her previous coach; their relationship was obviously not working anymore. But I didn't expect Plushenko's school.

I don't think Tarakanova should. Why? She's unique. She's wonderful. She's very, very good. And she has a lot left to offer.
Not everything is about going to junior worlds or later worlds. It's about skating because she loves it, because it's who she is, and because she wants to.
Of course, if she doesn't wish to continue, that's her decision, and if it makes her happy, I'd support her.

But that's a very narrow-minded view you have. It's like saying "why bother to go to school if you won't get into Harvard?"

If Tarakanova should retire, skaters like Eun-soo Lim or Rika Kihira should do that first. Not to speak of the senior skaters (most of them) who cannot even score 199 like Tarakanova can.

And yet she made it to the JGPF this season and got a medal. If any of the others don't bring it or are injured (as Anna Shcherbakova was), she's right back in the team.
