2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I think that Eteri considers going behind her back to arrange a different coach a betrayal. Perhaps she shouldn't feel that way, but I'm convinced that she does.
And maybe Med considers her coach coaching up multiple competition not something she can handle anymore. Eteri cannot have this both ways.

Would have been some good popcorn had she invited Eteri in on the process of finding a new coach.

Even at the lower levels when skaters start changing coaches.....that’s when a lot of funny behavior begins. Oh the drama of just getting a turn at playing music for a run thru can stir up some rather lively interactions

I wish Eteri and Zhenya the absolute best going forward. I’m pretty patient and don’t have much else to say on the matter. Well...can’t wait for Brian to appear at Russian Nationals. I’m really looking forward to that although....isn’t it at the same time as Japanese Nationals

Eating disorders are pretty different things - I intentionally didn't mention them. Those are psychological in nature.

I don't know whether they have or will have eating disorders. They seem to be a thing in this sport in general.

But remember that endurance work is also different from explosive work.

A strict diet is not an eating disorder.
Do you know what happened to poor Takaranova then?

Appearently you know?

OFF: Damn, folks, the season didnt even start and we are already heading to 100 pages. Dunno about figure skating, but we will surely win the 2018-19 worlds in "longest national thread" discipline. Keep up with good work.

I don't. Do you? From what I've heard, she was ill and had to go to hospital. That was a while ago, though.
Which is why it is worrying. No one has update from her for 3 months. What happened to the poor girl? She's among the group and no update and no one seems to care.

Supposedly she had bronchitis and she’s been posting a bit on her Instagram saying she’s okay in the comments and stuff so I think she’s fine now??? Not sure tho and v concerned as she’s by far my favourite of Eteri’s quad squad

"victoria_rl22Ты поправляешься?
anastasiyatar04@victoria_rl22 спасибо, у меня всё отлично 👌"

This was on her instagram.

Google translate:
victoria_rl22 Are you recovering?
anastasiyatar04 @ victoria_rl22 thanks, I have everything excellent 👌

Definately that. For Zhenya to look at sensational girls every day at practice only 13 to 15 years old led by Alina cannot have been easy for her. She wanted change lets see what she does with it.

Somehow it is reasonable that she wants her students to tell her first then arrange new coach. But in reality it's very unlikely, unless they argue and break immediately. Skaters can't wait. What if they can't find the next coach they want? Their sport life are very short. They can't miss a season, or even a few months of good training.

Yeah. But was there any other way for Zhenya to do this if not behind Eteri's back? If she told Eteri she wanted to leave and then went to ask Orser to coach her and he said no, she would be out a previous coach and a future coach. I don't think Eteri seems the kind to be encouraging of Zhenya trying to get a new coach and letting her come back if that didn't work out. So of course Zhenya had to make quiet arrangements to see if they worked out before she communicated her decision. Same as someone holding onto their previous job while trying to find a new one. So maybe she didn't have the opportunity to talk to Eteri personally about it but Zhenya had to make sure she could even make this change in the first place.

Skaters find new coaches first all the time. The fact though the Med went to the meeting with Orser refusing to complain about her previous coach shows that she wanted to handle it in a classy respectful manner.

We don't know went down between her and Eteri that got her not to respond, but I have all kinds of respect that she just wanted a new environment. As for her saying that about Alina so she said something like that in a emotional moment. That hardly makes her a horrible person and Eteri could have kept it quiet.

Why Rus Fed destroying Eterie's team?

I think they are just allowing liberty to the skaters.

Maybe if Yulia could have had the liberty after Sochi she could have had a long career.

Anyway, best wishes to the skaters, specially to Polina and Evgenia, hoping their injuries heal completely

For all we know she could have called her on her phone instead of answering a message... right now we only have Eteri´s version of the events.

They're getting the best of both worlds here, actually. The last time they vehemently prevent Yulia's coaching change, it was messy & in the end they lost her. So now they're allowing the 'older' ones to escape/not retire while still reaping the benefits from Eteri's other juniors & fresh senior.

I agree, sadly there was no way to make this a completely clean break for obvious reasons that you state here. But I think that Eteri is lashing out on an emotional level because she really did feel very connected to Evgenia after 11 years together, in a way that's different form her connection to other skaters imo. And now she feels that she was discarded in a dishonest way. In the news today she again said something along the line of her wanting Evgenia to seek her out (before they happen to meet during a grand prix) and say thank you at the very least.
