2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I predict that there will be shock and outrage at Eteri for letting them practice quads because they're not in seniors yet so their achievements are false. To some people.

I'm not mad at Eteri, i just want Anna and Alexandra to continue skating, cause they are soo talented that only skating in juniors on those empty arenas would be a shame.

Especially with Anna i wish they went with another approach, developing more those beautiful lines she has, and her ballerina quality, rather than filling the program with transitions and steps sequence. Work more on making these elements more meaningful.

I don't know what happened but when Eteri had Julia they were working more on these things, you could see it on the ice.

On top of that usually you start to work on quads when you're consistent with the triples, while Anna still has some serious issue that needs to be fixed like the 3T in the combo.

They started working on the quad... 2 years ago?

You have to realize that Anna pretty much needs the quad to have any sort of a significant status within the fed, it's pretty much her only hope at a JWC assignment, also. And who even knows whether or not she'll have issues with her consistency next season? Did you see Alena's 16-17 season?

On the other hand, I wonder how Veronika Zhilina's jumps will progress under Eteri. When Akatieva joined, she soon got extremely fast rotation speed that she didn't have before. Would it be possible for Zhilina to also be able to learn such rotation speed for next season? I'm very curious to see... They have a lot to work on.

To me, the counter entry into 2A is a marker for "3A potential"
Anyone who needs an extra step into 2A should have little chance in successfully landing a 3A
really? I mean many ladies that land 3A or train 3A currently not performing 2A with counter entry... Also for exampe Daria Panenkova and Alina have performed 2A counter entry but do you really think they have 2A potential? I thought many agree that 2A is Alina weaker jump, same for Daria (i think Lutz is her best jump)

You are partially correct. I do think Daria has 3A potential. Backward spiral-counter-2A(rippon) is a very difficult jump.
As for Alina, 3A is very unlikely to happen. Let's not forget why she had to change the 2A entry in her SP last season.

i know its very difficult but 3A is really different with 2A counter. As you can see Daria 2A height is not super high, also she's not super fast rotator isn't she? Even though she have done 3A off ice few times, on ice its different story. I'll be very happy if she prove mo wrong though. I think whats more indicative is if they have huge 2A, and doesnt rotate super slow. For example Mirai, Wakaba, Alena K all have huge 2A and they have land 3A in practice at least.

why Sambo-70 team don't have summer camps abroad?
Olympic center Novogorsk - 8 km from Moscow, 200 000 square meters.
Training and Medical Treatment Base for the athletes of 38 Olympic sports. The largest medical and rehabilitation sports center in Europe.

First. All athletes of the Russian Olympic reserve undergo state medical examinations every three months.
For Tutberidze it is the opportunity to conduct precise medical examination of all her students.

From August 1, 2018 to May 20, 2019 there will be no time for this.
Moreover, any trip abroad presupposes the cost of a certain time for excursions and cultural events.
Tutberidze Team doesn't have time for that.
In these off-season 50 days Etery lays The Foundation of a successful competitive season.
Everything else is minor improvements during the season.
Moving forward the top group of 10-15 athletes Tutberidze knows where, when and how the next victory will be won.

Second. Each state center of RusFed FS receives a lot of money to organise the off-season. Some spend them abroad.

Eteri saves significant amounts and spends them on students from other cities - they rent apartments, take into account food and cultural leisure money in the capital + personal money.

First to make it clear I don't know the details of figure skating training process form start of season to the peaking time during main competitions. As a kid junior/senior high school I was doing athletics (middle distances).

I will consider it, for example, more beneficial to train for a couple of weeks in the beginning of the season in a place with high altitude like Grenoble (run etc. in surround hills, plus rink). Which gives an advantage to build better stamina through aerobic exercise (main part of physical conditioning) in lower oxygen consecration. Plus the isolation and mental relaxation... Just thoughts...

This is very interesting. But as far as I know, altitude training starts working from at least 1500m and I don't know if there are so many cities with ice rinks at this height. And if they spend a month or so in the mountains with no ice rink, the lack of ice time might be crucial.

In my opinion, doing an international camp would only cause discomfort (adapting to a new scenery), additional money issues and could eventually distract the skaters which will lead to insufficient training . The national camp in Novogorsk already provides them the needed isolation. Also, they already had 2-3 free weeks for vacation and mental relaxation. And I can imagine that in Novogorsk they have the opportunity to meet other sportsmen from different disciplines, so it's also in a way refreshing.

it looked the best to me too and although she's my favorie russian junior i don't think i'm particularly biased (yet)

Well, I try to not be biased but I honestly don‘t think I always manage. And Alena‘s really a heavy favourite of mine, so... it can happen as much as I try to prevent it.

Serefima and Elizaveta Nugumanova are now training mates. They train with the former coach of Anastasiia Gubanova.

I still cannot find any information about the other Russian ladies.

is it normal that i cannot see any of the gifs you post? i think the website is blocked in my country or something :noshake:

Same here, 404, and I'm pretty sure VK is not blocked in Russia. :) Probably the pictures themselves have a restricted scope.
