2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

no 3A will EVER beat any Quad, especially made the first time in HISTORY!

Score-wise, it can.
3A +3 (clean, good): 10.4
4S< (as trusova landed in Brisbane): 7.28 (even less with negative GOE)
4S<< (as trusova landed in Minsk): 4.30 (even less with negative GOE)
4S< with fall is 7.28 -5 GOE and then also penalty

Not that i am not trusova's fan, but a CLEAN and STABLE 3A beats a messy quad most of the time

If the 3A is consistent with a nice landing and the quad rough or heavily underrotated, yes it can. Very likely so, in fact. If Trusova lands both 4S and 4T cleanly, however, then she‘s miles out of reach for Kostornaya even with the 3A. If she doesn‘t... well, then it‘s Kosto‘s to win. But well, at this point we can‘t predict anything really. Last season as crazy as it was should have shown us. Anything can happen. Juniors sure gonna be interesting this year with the likes of Trusova, Kostornaya and Sherbakova battling for 1-3 and someone like Tarakanova breathing down their necks. I‘m already hyped!

A consistent 3A can definitely beat inconsistent quads :scratch2:
I tell you more, under the new ISU rules 3Lz GOE+5 can beat 4T GOE-1,
which does not negate rules of mathematics 1x4=4 and 1x3=3.
it is hard to agree, but we have to live with it...

They started working on the quad... 2 years ago?

You have to realize that Anna pretty much needs the quad to have any sort of a significant status within the fed, it's pretty much her only hope at a JWC assignment, also. And who even knows whether or not she'll have issues with her consistency next season? Did you see Alena's 16-17 season?

Disagree, i think Anna just needs to stay consistent.

Last year she missed JW cause her entire FS was a big mess, and there was no quad: but the layout was already very ambitious, i feel like she could have beaten Konstantinova with a clean skate. I know that they're working on quads for a while but before that they should fix the triples, adding more elevation.

If you're good and you skate clean when it really matters, you'll beat the others and Eteri's skaters are already stronger than the rest of the field even without quads and 3As.

I know this may sound controversial and weird but i think quads make Eteri's skaters look weaker especially with the new rules: because they look stronger when they can skate clean the entire season than when they land one quad after missing it all year.

She wouldn't be ahead of Trusova / Kostornaya in priority if all are clean. They wouldn't want to send 3 skaters of Eteri's if they at all could help it(See Tarakanova for reference). Her scoring domestically is low. The only real option would be to force their hand, so to speak - With quads.

At the ex her consistency already was better than it's been at any point last season. Her biggest issue last season was that she UR'd too much - She rarely fell on something she fully rotated. In general, I don't think that her last season is a great indicator of her usual state. She wasn't ready.

On the topic of jump height, at the end of last season it already was significantly better.

The reason why I‘m a bit hesitant to make up my mind about Anna yet, is because she‘s so unpredictable. She‘s like a roller-coaster, sometimes only going up but then crashing down so heavily again that it makes your stomach churn. Her artistry is brilliant and she‘s like a feather on the ice, elegant and light. Her jumps? I don‘t know whether it was solely due to injury or not but I‘m afraid they‘re always rather smallish, she relies more on rotation speed which is quite understandable given her stature - she doesn‘t seem to have any muscles whatsoever. I like her far more than Trusova (even though Sasha‘s... well, Sasha which is in itself already historic) but I‘m also more worried about her. Will she get the 4Lz? Will she be injured again? Will she suddenly turn up with two different quads like she did with the 4Lz, showing it out of nowhere? Will she bomb completely? With Anna, you just can‘t tell. She‘s a lovely skater and I can‘t wait to see her make her international debut. However, she‘ll also be the one I‘ll be most worried about while seeing her skate.

Valieva in general seems to have pretty height on everything but her jumps are everything but convincing. Let's see if that'll change. I expect Akatieva to jump 3A. and depending on what's done with Zhilina who kows what her limit will be. Her lift should be the best of them all.

Valieva has artistry that is godsend. She can skate to a variety of musical styles, interpret and express accordingly. It is a natural ability that is unmatched by any Eteri skaters including Kostornaia and Shcherbakova. What's more, she has good SS to support that artistry. She just need to be more consistent with her jumps and fix the way she lands jumps. She has less knee-bending during her landing than what I'd like to see.

And she needs to get rid of her weird programme choice she had from last season.

I don't see it. She rushes through her movements.
