2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Golden Skate won’t allow access to the jgp page, so is there another way to look up when the first event will be? What country is the first event? I’m on Eastern time. Usually I have to wake up at 2 or 3am.

Ah the Flutz. We do have threads about that that would a better place to discuss the flutzing and judging the flutz.

Lets try to stick to Russian ladies in this thread. There are so many great Russian ladies to discuss that we should not have to bring up skaters from other countries. People shouldn't do it on either side. Don't use this thread to bash Carolina or Kaetlyn and don't use this thread to set up debates about who is better when it comes to non Russian ladies vs Russian ladies.

Also, rather than trying to police this thread, report rather than respond to posts you feel break the rules. Do not try and tell other users how to post. IGNORE OR REPORT. Responding just means you are bickering with them.

Thanks! The chart is color coded but doesn’t say what the colors mean.🙄 I gather L means ladies. And the ladies will begin at 8:45 pm Bratislava time, which is 2:45 pm eastern time in the US ?

The colors that filled the whole column are practice times. The competition times are outlines but not filled. "MR" means Main Rink so that's the column you should be looking at. Let's say, for example, in JGP Bratislava:

Junior Men SP (MS): 23 Aug 11:30-14:40
Junior Pairs SP (PS): 23 Aug 15:15-16:10
Junior Ladies SP (LS): 23 Aug 16:45-21:30

Junior Dance RD (DR): 24 Aug 11:30-13:30
Junior Men FS (MF): 24 Aug 14:00-17:35
Junior Pairs FS (PF): 24 Aug 18:10-19:15 --> followed by victory ceremony for pairs and men (VC P, M)

Junior Dance FD (DF): 25 Aug 10:45-12:55
Junior Ladies FS (LF): 25 Aug 13:30-18:50 --> followed by victory ceremony for ladies and dance (VC L, D)

Schedule is in Bratislava local time.

Out of curiosity, how do people feel on Liza versus… Stanislava Konstantinova. I haven't had the time yet (I'm slowly making my way through last season:) - so something to do during the summer that's figure skating related, but I digress) to watch Russian Nationals, but I do know that Liza did not "bomb", and that Stanislava messed up her short program. Was the judging between those two fair? Thoughts?

What worries me is going to be the potentially significant prerotation on quads, which has much greater scoring potential than triples, that may not be properly penalized (but should be assessed in the revised good take-off and landing bullet). For example, some of the men got similar points last season for quads with different amounts of prerotation.

Well as long as the prerotation on quads is the same as the prerotation on triples of the top scoring ladies, they should be getting the same GOE. After all, a prerotated quad still has one more revolution than a prerotated triple.

An interview with TAT at the test skates

By the time I finished translated this, I've started hating her thoughtful and so syntactically complex speech.
I had to translate the word кураж in 3 completely different ways, and none of them was "courage".

Thank you so much for the translation! Fascinating to watch. Trusova still seems unreal to me. There is a little girl, and she does quads. I never thought I'd see the day when any female skater did a quad, let alone a Trusova, a kid that is just on another level from the rest of the mere mortals. This interview is a hoot!

Probably because she URs all the time(A common problem for skaters who have a so-called good classic Lutz technique...).
Wrong. Liza, Carolina, Yuna Kim... when they land their Lutz without cheated takeoff. They do not UR.

The issue with Sotskova is that she is too tall to rotate fast enough.
