She had positive GOEs in both of her lutzes in Autumn Classic, so I don't get why to not do 3 lutzes if she can.
IMO it's kind of not right, not really logical thing to do....
You want to fix something? good! Everyone is working on improving something.
But FIX it first, and then put 3 x 3Lz in programs. but not before you fixed it.
If the GP spots will stay the same, i think we'll see added Tarusina, Vasilieva, Nugumanova and, maybe, Gubanova, as the last four, but my doubt is that someone like Panenkova can even lose her second GP over someone else, like Sakhanovich, for example.Contenders for the last four are;
Nugamova, Gubanova, Sakhanovich, Tarusina, Vasilieva, Istomina, Leonova, Pogorilaya (Sima is almost certainly out due to her low placements but I'm not sure about the others and if there is anyone else I have missed who could potentially make Nationals.

This is not JGP, so they can't lose their spots.
Even if the GP don't work like the JGP, sometimes directly replacement happen. Don't underestimate the fed's influence.
The Russian fed couldn't ensure a replacement for Radionova at SA, so they would be risking a lot by trying to meddle with the spots, as it's not guaranteed that they would go to other Russian skaters.

Well, the difference here is that Alena's is a genuine ! Lutz. Medvedeva's is an e Lutz that gets called as !. There's quite a difference there in my book. The inclusion of one depends on faulty judging, which isn't the case with the other. I have some issues with the sportsmanship involved in including 2 obvious e Lutz and hoping they don't get called.Alena Kostornaia wins with Lz! and still no one is outraged.

You may see for yourself the later replacement of the previous years, also on wikipedia.

Some were directly and not every one of them happen because of injury.
Medvedeva tried really hard to hold the outside edge now that I am replaying the lutz. From what I can see, it is a flat edge dancing with an inside edge (if that makes sense). She probably has jumped a real lutz, but I can see how when under pressure she lets that edge wobble.
The double axels look great - wow. Next up is adding more difficult entrances into them and exits. Much more height than original. This for me is her biggest improvement.
Everything else looked the same except for her triple sal. As mentioned in her FF, it was somehow higher and went off axis a bit. She saved it, but it was a bit wild. Perhaps they are really serious about adding a quad sal in the coming years.
I‘m okay with 3Lz in SP for upping her technical content and getting used to performing it more in competition. It would also allow her to jump 3F-3Lo later. But she really doesn‘t need two 3Lz in the FS for now, especially not one in combo since the GOE is always measured by the first jump in combination so if she gets a ! or even e (though I don‘t think she‘ll get an e) she would lose a lot of points she could have easily got had she done a 3F-2T-2T. I know Brian and her want to fix the lutz and I strongly support this decision but I‘m not sure whether her first GP event is the right moment for experiments. But we‘ll see. I wish her all the luck and hope everything will be fine and she manages to pull off a win.
I think if it's called in the SP they won't include two in the LP. The skaters are under no obligation to stick to the planned content after all.Well, the difference here is that Alena's is a genuine ! Lutz. Medvedeva's is an e Lutz that gets called as !. Yeah that Sal made me question if they are already training a quad because usually skaters have problems with their triple at first when they are training a quad. That bigger height and slightly of axis could be signs. Made me excited. Maybe we will see a quad sal at Worlds?![]()
On another note who do people think will be at Russian Nats
Medvedeva, Zagitova, Tsurskaya, Panenkova, Tuktamysheva, Samodurova, Konstantinova, Sotsokova (locks due to GP)
Radio who will probably go to NHK especially as I don't think she can qualify to Nats otherwise and be a lock
Trusova, Shcherbakova, Tarakanova, Kostornaia (locks due to JGPF qualification)
Gulyakova ( two first place finishes at Russian Cup.
In total that is 14 out of the 18 total spots.
