I had no idea that she was 4th at Russian Junior Championships in 2014 and originally only an alternate for Worlds. Really anything can happen in 4 years. I actually think that the girls who happen to be 15 in 2022 may have the edge over any of the current uber juniors.

Part of me hopes so and part of me hopes she doesn't. For selfish reasons I really like Alena being a non thrills, non gimmicky skater who wins and gets such high scores with such simple and pure skating. It's something that really sets her apart from everyone else on the Russian team but she fell at the last competition so she no longer needs to protect her reputation as a spotlessly clean skater so carefully so she might as well go for it.

I fear that without a 3A, she will not be able to compete internationally. Eteri already has 2 quad juniors (who are also really good at the non-quad-things ^^) so a 3rd Lady for Junior worlds will preferably be pushed from the non Eteri girls...

I'm hoping and watching the russian cup for the first time later =)

If the 3A is not constant, 2A practise is also good after the last JGP^^

(I have a feeling we will see Trusova jump 3A later, not Alena haha)

I dont see why everybody is surprised.
In short, both have somewhat similar TES, but Alena has an obvious advantage in components. Imho, Alena beating Sasha in SP is kinda... Expected.
Now, FS is a whole different story.

That‘s what google translate says. So basically, the judges deliberately put Alena in front of Sasha even if she didn‘t deserve it just to assure that neither of the girl loses motivation? Disagree on that. Alena deserved to be first here. Sasha will win tomorrow anyway, Alena has no way of beating her quads. But here in the SP their difference isn‘t too big TES wise. That‘s why she could make the difference up with quality on other elements. In the FS it won‘t be possible anymore which is absolutely natural. Quads are quads.

If my assumptions are wrong, please correct me what the original comment meant.

After the SP, Gubanova has a good shot at finishing 3rd and going to nationals - she got very generous scoring. Vasilieva and Nugumanova would need a fourth to go ahead of her in the nationals line. Tarusina should have it easier soon since she doesn't face any Eteri girls at stage 5.

Alena has beaten Sasha a number of times, including the FS at GPF. On any given day either one could win. Today, even without the bonus, Alena was better. Trusova seemed a bit nervous, tentative and stiff. Alena was relaxed and in the groove so to speak.

I’m so tired of Kostornaya’s fans tossing shade at Sasha. It’s a huge turn off.

I love both girls but the shade is creating a very negative vibe around her IMO. Both girls slay in their own way and are deserving of the marks they receive.

Scherbakova will brobably stay juniors as she needs more stability and fix her quad flutz ?

At two JGP Events Scherbakova made six 3Lz and one 4Lz, i.e. seven Lutz jumps. And two different technical panels never give her edge call at that 7 jumps, no "e", no "!".
She had "!" several times at Flip, but no at Lutz. So she did not get edge calls at Lutz not because technical panels were too kind for her.

Takeoff of her 4Lz is about the same that at 3Lz, we can see it at Youtube videos.

So using word "flutz" is not a good idea.

I was wondering about that. I'm not sure why any of Eteri's girls are here, as they auto qualify because of the JGPF? And it would seem that their competing here knocks out other girls, like Gubanova, Vasilieva and Nugumanova. (based on the point system).

It's competitive experience before the JGPF.
I doubt Eteri really cares about other girls qualifying, sorry if it seems mean. And many stages have had Eteri's girls, so this is not the only one.

We see it with Zhenya and Alina. Today I’m seeing it with Sasha and Alena. The stuff people are posting… it’s just not necessary to constantly compare these girls. It’s inevitable sure, but some of the comments are unwarranted. Just because x skater is different from y skater doesn’t mean one is worse than the other. They’re just different. I already dread the Sasha vs Anna posts when the JGP comes around.

I see how fed could care, but pretty sure at this point rusfed doesn't mind - if you got screwed, thats your problem, we have more skaters than GP spots anyways, maybe those girls should switch to pairs.

I think its more than a rivalty thing, its a sort of a battle between fans of two styles of skating, more artistic one and more athletic one.
Which is worse because it is eternal, just the skaters change
