:agree: But also: Ting's terrific SP has earned her an ISU Championship small bronze medal, which is an accomplishment unto itself.
Soooo happy for her. I got teary :sad4: (in a good way) for her during her performance.
Congratulations to Ting and to Hanna. :yay:
Will both Ting and Hanna go senior next year?
They were both lovely today. Congrats to them!
So what placements do the two US ladies have to have to get 3 spots for Jr Worlds and 2 spots for each JGP next season?
Ting and Hanna's combined placement needs to be equal to or less than 13 to get 3 spots for Junior Worlds and 2 spots for each JGP next season.
I believe the two have slightly different criteria.
You are correct about the 3 spots at Junior Worlds but in order to get 2 spots for each JGP next season, one of our girls has to be in the top three countries (as measured by the highest ranked skater from each country). So, presently that would be Russia (Shcherbakova), USA (Cui), and Japan (Shiraiwa). I wouldn't be surprised if it stays that way, but you never know..

I enjoyed Hanna more than Ting today. She is petite but very powerful in jumps. A little more speeds needs to be added too.

Her jumps are great but her basic skating needs work and she doesn’t really have any transistions. But, she is young and has time to learn. Hopefully, she will improve these aspects of her skating.
IMO, they should both stay junior another year. Hanna has basics to work on and Ting really needs to train her competition mind. I can't think of a reason why either of them should go senior next year.
I’m not sure that is her fault, her short program just isn’t very sophisticated. Might be more of an issue of not being able to afford the better choreographers.
