2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

and more likely than not the list for that jgp is going to change anyways, there's still a lot of time.
The first list is rarely left without changes.

Obviously.

These constant dramas from scratch begin to tire.

The problem is max 3 entries at each challenger. Assuming they give Tarakanova, Vasilieva and Tarusina a later season challenger to get a higher senior SB score (all are eligible) that hardly leaves spots left for any of the other ladies who did qualify for nationals last season like both Maria’s, Gulyakova, Leonova, Liza N, Gubanova etc.

Why do you assume that they would give Vasilieva, Tarusina and Tarakanova rather than skaters who showed good results at Russian cup?Last season as I remember Tarusina only got one while Gubanova, Sakhanovich and Panenkova(withdraw once) got two.Actually Imo they just send someone who they like who they want to?Sakhanovich wasn’t good at Russian cup. That’s why she wasn’t able to qualify nationals.Gulyakova, Nugumanova and Talalikana did better than her at Russian cup.But except Gulyakova they didn’t get any spot.

The thing I’m worried about is skaters who already got GP spots will take other skater’s spot unfairly. We will see but we already know skater like Samodurova and Konstantinova who won’t be able to get to gpf. There could be skaters who are injured, messed up like Panenkova,Sotskova and Polina did last season and also it’s possible there could be another unexpected failure like medvedeva last season.

Especially Panenkova I believe she didn’t deserve any challenger spots last season.Rusfed gave her just because she got GP spots. This is unfair but I guess Rusfed won’t care about this problem. So I just hope they send skaters like Sotskova, Sakhanovich who got one GP spot and Gubanova who is Senior reserve to earlier challengers like Finlandia to maximize spots.

I don't get all of these discussions, the list isn't even finalized.
Certainly Alysa isn't unbeatable, and more likely than not the list for that jgp is going to change anyways, there's still a lot of time.
The first list is rarely left without changes.

Speaking to this year, and this year only, I think Alysa is unbeatable, even without landing the 4L. The base tech score is just too much to overcome for everyone except Kamila. I do hope the list changes, as it seems to me that Ksenia is a strong number 2 junior, and it would be a shame if she didn't make it to the final. Two 2nd's ought to do it, but there is a scenario in which it would not.

I love her too. I loved her last year at Russian Nats. I does seem though, that they have sacrificed her against Alysa. Yes, Ksenia is the better skater, but the best she can do is 2nd in both of her JGP's. Alysa has the tech numbers. On the other hand: Since Trusova and Rika burst on to the scene, skaters have been put on notice that either you are able to do a 3A or a quad, or you will no longer be competitive. It is sad to see beautiful skaters winnowed out, but it is what it is.

It's very sad for the sport and not good for it long-term or short-term for that matter. Remember the men's competition in 2014 Olympics? It was a flop fest. Hopefully that won't happen with the ladies because no one wants to see falling in major competitions usurping beautiful and artistic skaters who don't fall. But like you said Katy it is what it is. ;)

Has everyone seen Evgenia and Alina’s Instagram stories of their off ice training? I think it would be really insightful if they put out more content like that or talked about their training in detail. I’m sure there is a lot that goes into the making of a Olympic gold and silver medalist and it would be really interesting to see how they train on and off the ice and what their nutrition plans are like. I always find it so interesting to be able to get a peak into the process that happens before all the performances.

Will we see Leonova? I she still skating. With the current state of Russian skating she seems so far down the list.

Thanks for your great resource. Hopefully the clips are safe from copyright claims.

You bet people here would only be interested in one of the two;)

It would be interesting for sure to compare their actual preparations for competition, Yevgeniya is more or less her own master at TCC, while Alina (though probably having earned herself some more freedom), is still expected to work on PE, train, etc. alongside the other Khrustalniy senior skaters in the same session.

Sure, it's just that I have essentially no hope for sass-less and hate-less conversation about this.

To be fair there's essentially no hope for sass-less and hate-less conversation about anything in this thread. It's just a matter of whether we refresh this thread to 1 new page or 6 new pages.

Fair enough

I guess I'm just kinda accumulatively annoyed today due to certain things in this thread.
