2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Sure, it's just that I have essentially no hope for sass-less and hate-less conversation about this.

About those clips with Alina boxing, Kostorka in pointees, etc. these are probably just Zheleznyakov’s idea to provide some more variation in PE and choreography lessons while at the same time increasing their effectiveness.

Doing these different things keeps the lessons varied, the skaters’ minds sharp, their pleasure in PE fresh, their bodies well toned. And us with lots of nice photos ;-)

I think one shouldn't underestimate the Khrustalniy approach with Zheleznyakov's sub program integrated within the greater program. It might be more costly by the hour, but the rewards are greater also.

Soo is Kamila young enough to become the youngest to land a quad in a competition? [emoji3]
Don't wanna jinx her, but I'm convinced that she'll land it and I'll be there to see it live [emoji41]

I just checked and she is! Sasha was a month younger during her junior debut than Kamila is now, but Sasha didn't land a clean quad internationally until JWC. So if Kamila lands a fully rotated quad at either of her JGP stages or JGPF, she'll be younger than Sasha was at the time.

Heck, it's even more amazing considering these are just first attempts in competition. Does she plan to repeat it? She has a combo and executes the jump well. It depends on how consistent she is of course.
Considering that it looks quite stable, i think they will aim to have both 4T and 4T+3T later in the season.

I agree, although I think that Kamila's PCS should still be higher than Maya's (assuming they both perform clean). Realistically Kamila's will be higher because of reputation and a quad, but I also think they should be a bit higher do to artistry. Maya is also musical, but imo not as much as Kamila.

I think Maya and Kamila have both the same amount of musicality. Watch how Maya holds her movements. All this hype around Kamila is putting pressure on the poor girl and shadowing other talented Russian girls. What reputation? Yes Kamila has a quad and a very beautiful one too but both haven’t even competed internationally. Maya got her fair share of titles last season including Cup of Russia final champion. I’m not big on this over hyping of one skater and not giving a damn about the other talented ones. I’m supporting them all and think there are wonderful things about all of them.
(Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh)

And I'm assuming you're counting Viktoria as getting the 15th spot? I think that is realistic considering she will be the third Russian at the Russia JGP and is at risk for third place (so are Ksenia and Nastya at Lake Placid). Although I do think that they might give one less girl two spots and give Anna Frolova one spot, especially if Nastya or Ksenia gets third or lower at Lake Placid vs. Alysa, or if anyone else gets a third (sad because I want both Nastya and Ksenia to get two spots).

Yeah it’s so difficult [emoji24] sadly I think Anna Frolova might go without a spot the way this is going. I think she should get Viktoria’s spot instead especially since she had a bad SP and withdrew from FS at the test skates. I don’t know why they gave her Chelyabinsk tbh

I agree Maya, Kamila and Daria all have nice musicality, just different skating styles that might appeal to different people.

I can’t imagine the pressure Kamila is feeling - she has to be aware that people are already predicting her to be Olympic champion when she hasn’t even debuted on the JGP! I’m for supporting all skaters and appreciating the different strengths each one brings to the table.
