2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Maybe RusFed will decide after the test skates who will go to Nebelhorn Trophy?

But why would they? They submitted entries to every other Challenger so far other than US Classics. So why wait just for Nebelhorn? I had a feeling Alina would be sent there again. She went last year and left with a really high score and a gold medal, so why not have her compete there again? I still think they might add her somehow. But I don‘t know why they wouldn‘t do that from the very beginning.

I though Alina would get Nebelhorn again to, or Aliona. Maybe Alina isn’t doing any challengers, just Japan Open? She’s 1st in WR and doesn’t need the points. But Aliona does. What about Serafima who has Skate Canada?

Hopefully someone will end up being assigned here, as well as Finlandia and Ice Star. Would be a shame to waste spots at Challengers this close to Russia. I understand the travel costs to USA or Canada but this is just confusing.

I‘m sure Alina will do a Challenger. She doesn‘t “need“ it per se, of course but it is helpful to have a high SB to start off the season and Japan Open is a competition but still more of a fun, commercial kind of event. Like, Zhenya‘s doing Shanghai Trophy which is similar in that regard and is still assigned to ACI. So, I‘m guessing Alina will want a chance to start off the season with a gold at a Challenger too. I think she might be added to Nebelhorn or do Ice Star. As for Aliona: she really needs a Challenger. It‘s her first senior season and she needs WS points as well as some reputation she can earn with a medal and a high score. I‘m sure her, Alina and Serafima will be assigned somewhere.

And there are other girls as well who didn‘t make the GP or are doing the JGP. I think Gubanova, Tarakanova and Tarusina would like a chance at an international senior event as well to increase their chances to get a senior GP for next year... Russia needs all of their slots at every competition, they just have so many talents. Not sending anyone to US classics and only Zhenya to ACI is understandable but for the rest... they‘d better fill every spot and give their girls the chances to prove themselves they deserve.

So far the most reasonable would be to send Aliona+Serafima to Finlandia and Alina+Anastasia G to Minsk. Skaters like Tarakanova, Vasilieva, Tarusina and others if they do not get to GPF could be given later Challengers. And I wish they could move either Anna or Liza T to Nebelhorn. They're too good not to start season with gold.

JGP in Lake Placid officially starts tomorrow. Is it confirmed that Sinitsyna withdrew? She is still listed on the ISU list of participants.

If she indeed has withdrawn it could be pretty problematic because only Tarusina is on the list of substitutes and she had health problems and probably won‘t be ready.

If the spot is wasted... OMG...

They cannot afford to do that. They don’t even have enough spots for all the ladies as it is! Imagine if Maiia or another talented lady ends up without a second spot because of this. I want to know what happened to Ksenia... she seemed fine at test skates? :(

Last year only Alina was sent to Nebelhorn and it wasn't even initially planned because she was supposed to compete at Nepela Trophy. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't assign anyone this year :noshake: I hope I'm wrong because there are many deserving girls.

I also hope that the Lake Placid spot isn't wasted and that Ksenia is OK.

Sinitsyna has a valid USA visa since she had part of her new program staged in the US.
So it could be money or health/readiness.

FFKKR wasting a JGP start because of no eligible reserve that is both ready and in possession of a valid visa?
Or not that interested in competing far abroad, in the USA in particular where the chance of winning is the smallest?

Also the apparent lack of interest in the early Challengers? Somebody not paying proper attention to the ISU calendar?

No authoritative info on any official social media? This is what social media are made for?

If she's still on the list here, I think we can still hope they just forgot to include her on the fed's list and that's all there is to it.

Lets hope so. In either case we sholud know for shure tomorrow when the event officially starts. If she is still on the list by the time of the draw she will compete.
I hope that other list was just a mistake and that the spot wont be wasted.

Edit: It says here she is to practice in the 3rd group tomorrow so..

Or maybe they just heard that local lament about how unfair it is to put Kseniia against Alysa twice
