2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

That was an unbelievable video thank you. Beautiful skating from KS a bad fall on her back a Pogo like fall if you will and a tug of war with her coach who could be Eteri's little sister. ;) The skater and the coach were really pissed at each other. KS does not hide her emotions. Ksenia is quite the divine and lovely skater. I hope she can keep her emotions under control.

Tuktik is out of luck again. The only good jump was 3Lz.
Satoko with a bunch of carrots and You with a really bad skate.
Chances are still there

She won the free and the overall competition though. But the free score was modest - only 122. Not the best competition for Sinitsyna.

I hope she can pull herself up in the FS. But if her program has been changed again I fear it will be more of the same.

Satoko got lucky, 2 URs and still second

It's unbelievable that these kids could still be getting better and you did point it out getting greater stamina as time goes by. I don't think puberty will hit any of 3A hard the way it did for Alina and others (Nastya). Nationals will be even crazier this year than last year.

It can happen without a warning. Alina had a grow spurr after the olympics, she grew 7cm in four or five months and her body matured. We can’t predict when the 3A will have mature bodies.

I think Young You is the real threat for Liza. I think it will be Anna, You and Liza. Satoko got lucky because liza and You made mistakes.

Yes, I was thinking that too. Wouldn't it be great if Stanislava surprises everyone and finishes a solid 2nd after Trusova!:yahoo: She certainly is capable of it.

This season has not been promising so far, I I think that's why she's not given much of a chance.

Unless she fires back in the free completely clean with a 3A, Young is going to struggle to get on the podium too.

Satoko is the real threat now, even with multiple URs she can and does score highly

Like in my previous posting about Tarakanova and her coaches, I again think there is something off in the dynamics of #TeamPanova and their skaters at rink side.

This is not normal behaviour in coaches and athletes that respect each other and have a good tutor-pupil relationship.

Might be Kseniya is going through her psychological phases of growing up and becoming more independent?

Hope any issues will be sorted out come JGPF, Russian Cup and National Championships. For Kseniya is a skater too good to loose.

I don't know, I think Sofia's score seemed fair. Everything looks like hard work to me and that affects the GOE's. Right now, I think her limit is to score around 125 in the free...unfortunately.

Idk to me the jumps looked similar to last season.

I think she is closer to her previous form, i hope she can skate clean just to set the record straight at the major events, but looking at the judging i doubt she will end up on the podium anyway.

Going forward she will have to train more that 3A to stay in the mix.

she looks like she could be a special skater.

KS has some special qualities about her but her temper in video I saw could be a real issue for her future. Her coach had to force her to go in to kiss and cry and I've never seen that before like that. Maybe she will end up with Eteri.

How did Sofia do?

Someone mentioned Stanislava before and how she could win silver at Rostelecom. She could or she could sentence outside the top five. Hoping for good things for her of course because I like her so much. But I'm beginning to lose hope to be honest..

I suppose so. But if Sasha Alena and Anna get hit with puberty like alina it will affect them. Anna really is like a Bolshoi ballerina. I do not see her getting any bigger than maybe a couple pounds heavier and a couple inches taller.

If they will hit puberty like Alina they will win worlds

The question is will they be able to do quads ? Or 3A without struggling ? Those jumps are very difficult to land without risking injuries. It’s a pity, I would like to see Alina landind a quad flip. I really think she could do it but I understand that she doesn’t need to got injured because she still can medal.

I can tell the same if she back fired. I really think a clean You will score higher than a clean Satoko.

That was a humorous response to lighten the mood. If they can still do quads? I don't know here are two main factors rotation speed and height of the jump. The height can be increased during and after puberty and usually/naturally is. As the skater becomes stronger and muscle structure is in it's full development. Plus after the end of puberty you can spend (or start) work more in the gym with weights, lifts etc. The usual training avoids that pre-puberty and you work mainly with your body as a "weight". The rotation speed will decrease with puberty depending of each skaters body type. How much and if it can eliminate the potential gain in height we don't know that yet. My guess judging by their mothers body type, Alexandra and Alena will be hit more by puberty than Anna.

Another factor to decrease rotation speed will be to change the rotation technic. This though, is extremely difficult, considering that they have also to compete in between and bring results. This is probaly what Mishin achieved with Liza's 3A all this time between 2015 and 2018.

For Alina to to do a quad she needs to increase the height of the jump in some significant amount. My estimation, to bring it to more than 60cm and adjust in parallel the rotation technic as well. As above, considering that she has to skate in between and be competitive, this will be an enormous task. The same goes for Lutz where she gains more height I think.

Another factor that can increase the height can be the speed that you enter the jump. This will include some change in technic as well.

Aliona is already in puberty. I don’t want to comment on young girls’ bodies, but it is clear if you look at photos from the 2017-18 season to now that body changes began last season. Yes she is still very short and will likely remain around 5ft tall, but she has already started to undergo body changes and looks more “adult” than “child” with wider hips and shoulders compared to her waist.

Mao, Liza and Mirai have all been able to execute 3As with a woman’s body, and Rika is not “child like” either. As long as the jump depends more on height and timing vs. only rotational speed, it should be okay.

Well you also forget that if zhena skates clean she will probably get silver. A clean zhenya beats a clean stasya and we know it
