2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Rusfed probably obligated Zhenya to skate yesterday, and they’re probably doing the same today. I doubt Brian and Zhenya would have wanted to skate in those conditions. They’re probably like “you can either skate, or you’re out, for good”.
They’re being totally political, and probably want her to have a bad skate to justify not giving her a chance later. And TAT’s power seems to not work that much anymore. I think Rusfed is giving its back to Evgenia. It’s like they’re saying “you can have a little bit of support, or no support at all”, what do you choose.

A pity but probably the best decision. According to some Russian media, her mother wanted her to withdraw, but BOrser was against it.

She might have seriously bruised her foot or worse skating yesterday in a patched up boot and training this morning. We'll probably find out soon from Yevgeniya or BOrser themselves.

TASS says her name is stricken from the start list, but it appears to still be there??

Edit: FFKKR has updated the electronic pages.

And with Medvyedeva's show performances also at stake when she had skated and made a bruise into a hairline- or even real fracture, her entire remaining season was in jeopardy. Metatarsals heal slowly at best.

I hadn’t seen the withdrawal news when I posted this, although I still keep what I said.

She doesn't have much chances to get to the national team anyway, so it doesn't matter that much..

It does, actually. Fourth place means first alternate, often withdrawals do happen. And then she could have been ready. Now she has no chance whatsoever. And she‘s an athlete, wanting to fight is in her nature, even if chances are slim.

There is a picture on Twitter where they explain where the boot seems to be broken, another inform action in There was that every time she jumps the back of the boot bends and comes against her ankle. Which is the same ankle she was injured eith before Olympics. So I am heartbroken for her right now , she made the absolutely right decision but this girl can't catch a break.

Her name is still on the start order, but on the results page it says she WD.

I mean why won't Russia just hold a tutberidze championship and be done? None of the other have any chances anyways, right? :rolleye:

I'm heartbroken for Zhenya. I'm sure she's devastated but it was absolutely the right call.

Best of luck to the rest of the ladies today! Can't wait to see some amazing performances :)

It matters to her! She worked all year for this, is in great shape, very prepared, has actually improved and in a good state....sometimes it's about your prided in your work and satisfaction of a job well done and overcoming of obsticles NOT just winning...so sad for her but being the boss she is she will come back

so who got level 4s and did not deserve them, can you give me an example and justify it?
And while we're on the topic, her flip was also ur, but they let that one go, like they did let things go for some other skaters.
Everyone got something overlooked here at nationals, so she wasn't judged any harsher.
All of the jumps were barely eeked out, yet the scores that were given were pretty good, I'll leave it at that.

Zhenya's spin where she got level 2 was level in earlier comp. Exact same spin, not performed differntly.
All Eteri skaters got a PCS boost and huge GOEs and didn't deserve all of the. Even Liza's PCS went up.....so year, she was judged more harshly

If there's a withdrawal I'm sure she will be considered. But that's not something you can count on.

Man, if you just think about it, all 3 World medalists are out already....:noshake:

It will be really sad to watch RusNats now not only without Alina, but also Zhenya :(( Really unfortunate situation, almost brand new boots break before one of the most important competitions. Not a good PR for Edea for sure. But seeing how Zhenya performed at training (she could barely complete a triple and also fell from spin), she probably made the right decision. There is a very small chance to sneak onto the podium and the ladies' team is almost decided. Maybe Evgenia could be given another chance to qualify if one of the ladies performs worse at Euros?

Edit: Ok, apparently no one knows if she is in or not, but it still would be very sad if she withdrew.

Apparently rusfed was to fast to have her written as withdrawn. Apparently she hasn't made a final decision yet.

No no no Zhenya, you stay right were you are. Performing on a broken boot is seriously not worth it.

On another note... no Zhenya no Masha no Alina. Where is my Olympic team gone? :(

The list on RusFeds site has been removed! Apparently Zhenya hasn't decided if she is competing or not and the list was published without her final decision! (Seriously, RusFed?!!!)
.....
The list is up again and Zhenya is back on it, not as WD but as competing.
