2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

There is only someone's question why she didn't move to Eteri yet, and Sabina didn't answer. So I don't understand what are you discussing.

For some reason it shows up like that when I view it on the computer, but on mobile you can see her respond to that user saying "I will try in a year" when I click the translate button. I don't know how to attach a screen shot of it, otherwise I would.

ok, thanks, I'll try with another device

Dudes everyone, take a chill pill.

This forum has become a warzone these past couple of days and its unbearable as heck. This is the russian ladies chat, not a fanfest. Please be respectful to everyone; obviously everyone has their favorite skaters and their different opinions. This is the RUSSIAN LADIES CHAT, expect there to be discussion. Not everyone is going to agree with what you say, but there’s also no need to take everything so personally either. If everyone would just stop being so incendiary to one another that would certainly help. If you disagree with an opinion, then do it respectfully. And I think that goes for everything. This is a free space to share about any russian lady skater, but that doesn’t mean its a free space for you to incite one another. This is a SHARED forum. And it will do well for everyone to remember that.

In other words, I think someone above asked why Sofia didn’t get a PCS boost at Worlds. A few commentators said that she seemed to lack the fire that she had in Euros, and I think she was clean but there were a couple of bobbles as in programme didn’t really go as planned (although I don’t recall that well). Personally watching Worlds, I do get that sentiment too. She was definitely more nervous there, and her energy wasn’t as great as during Euros. I think its also good to note that PCS is also often pegged to the general field you’re competing in and how you do VS everyone else. The groupings also make a difference when it comes to PCS, and in general I’ve seen that PCS always tends higher in the last group. The competition at Worlds was really deep, lots of great skaters there and Sofia didn’t stand out as much to the judges vs everyone else, I feel.

I’m excited to see how next season goes for her. Tbh its really hard to be so consistent as she has in her debut aeason, and she pretty much gives Zhenya’s debut season a run for the money with how consistent she’s been. Not sure if we’ll see her add a 3A but I do think she needs to work on upgrading her tech in the months ahead to stay competitive. She definitely has ways to grow more in the years ahead.

I think I might save this post somehow and bring it up when things like this happen again, which usually is every 5 days or so

can someone expalin in one post the medvitova drama plz that is respectful of all sides

Don't disturb your happiness coming from not knowing about it, believe me that it isn't worth it. It's a storm in a glass of water, a week later it will be forgotten and there will be something new of the same importance. :)

I have not kept up with all the details, but as I understand it someone skated to a song that someone else liked, plus someone unfollowed someone else on Twitter. Something like that.

You just extracted the dominant harmonics from 10 pages of noise.

It is about some silly song. Song for girls that think they are tough but are scared to ask for extra ketchup packs... silly silly silly

I have to say that this is the very first time I have ever heard anybody, let alone an Olympic gold medalist and silver medalist, being referred to as "girls that think they are tough but are scared to ask for extra ketchup packs".

I am referring to the songs core audience. Not those two.

Although i bet by the time the season starts both will have a new favorite spng EVAH.

It seems the season will have the cringiest music selections ever lol

Alina unfollowed several skaters on Instagram including some of her younger teammates. It's nothing personal it's just business. My guess is one of her advisors asked her to spend less time on social media and on following others. Thus she unfollowed several girls. It should not be a big deal.

The correct summation of the situation is that Alinas team announced her exhibition song a song that Evgenia likes alot and many people think she was going to use it as her exhibition song starting in Japan. Some people took offense with what happened and accused Danil without proof or evidence of doing this on purpose to annoy Zhenya. My take is he would only do something that would be good for Alina that is his responsibility as her choreographer and friend. I don't particularly like this song but if DanIl thanks this will make a good exhibition song for Alina then so be it. Her EXO's the last two years have been really good and different so Danil has a good track record with Alina.

Things are going well here now so it may not happen again. ;) I'm glad you and Fabi in particular are enjoying the Russian ladies thread now. You should be since things have calmed down quite a lot. A lot of people here in post with passion about their favorite skaters and that is to be appreciated.

Well, they both love the song enough to have had an "argument" over it...and at the end of the day, they are teenage girls, as easy as it is to forget that. So as weird as it might be, they kind of are the target audience of teen edge music.

I don‘t think it‘s about “outplaying“ anyone. Zhenya just chose what was best for her. The OCS program did not work out because she wasn‘t ready yet. But her team accepted it and Sandra and Wilson have been really gracious about it.
It is about a balance between skater and coach, sport and artistry. A coach should guide and prepare his student, shouldn't he? Aleksey Zheleznyakov said that one of the Eteri's talents is that she can see what is suited naturally to the skater. And she never goes against skater's nature, emphasizing strong and hiding weak sides. And last season team Orser-Medvedeva has underperformed in comparison to Tutberidze-Medvedeva.
