This is definitely not purposeful from Russia. The US has a history of having visa issues with athletes of different sports. That was probably the reason for the shortened sub list in the first place (only Tarusina listed as a sub). And plus, Alysa may have had iffy competitions this summer, but RusFed knew about her nationals performance and knew what was coming. They didn't just last minute change this out of fear. Plus, by Ksenia withdrawing they've essentially forfeited one of their 15 JGP spots (really sad considering how many girls could have benefitted from that 15th spot), which RusFed wouldn't do. If there were no visa issues and your theory were right, RusFed would have the normal list of subs and would've subbed in Frolova or even Kromykh or something. Anyways, this is sad and I hope Ksenia can still get a second assignment. Maybe she'll end up getting put in in Chelyabinsk if the Dayvdov girls still aren't ready, or put in at the last event, or get subbed in at another one if someone gets third at their first event.
