2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Watching Dasha's touching performance, it just warms my heart. Her interpretation is sublime, at a level rarely seen on the JGP circuit. And this can not be taken, she is born with it, and it will always make her stand out. Some of her elements are at an extremely high level of quality, which could help her place above other clean skaters, when these mistakes are not repeated.

Maiia is also growing, and as a late bloomer, it won't be a surprise to see her skating even better in the second half of the season. She has beautiful lines, is very elegant and improved a lot since she is in Eteri's group.

And bringing my thoughts from the competition thread..Overall, both Maiia and Dasha did good until now for their first international season. They are inexperienced, with high pressure on their shoulders, and lots of negativity going towards them, as 13 years old, but yet both with unique styles and expressivness. They have a lot to learn from these competitions going further, of course probably Dasha will get a second assignement, too.

Assignments are weird at this point. Maiia still has hers at Gdank, Sinitsyna is asssigned to three in total. I assume Gdansk layout will change radically as Maiia will obviously be pulled out and maybe Kseniia as well so she doesn't do back to back events.

I notice that all of the Eteri girls this season have extremely beautiful + elegant lines - they all use their limbs gorgeously, especially for their age. They are better than the 3A in this regard, I think, so I wonder if it is something that Eteri was specifically looking for in this "generation" of girls?

Daria is a masterful interpreter, and very expressive. She has Kamila beat in this regard, though Kamila obviously has a technical advantage (not only on the quad, but GOE on spins as well). But I think Daria is my personal favorite for now.

Maiia is very tall for her age, so even though she makes mistakes, her jumps are still impressive to me. When she lands them, they are magnificent. Great height on her jumps, and they have more overall impact because she is tall as well. She will have to skate well at Nationals in order to stay relevant for next season, I think.

She looks very tall, but she's only 160 cm / 5’3”. Maybe a little taller than average for a skater, but I wouldn't say "very tall".

I think she is very tall for a 13 year old ladies' skater. Most 13 year old skaters don't have that kind of height until they start going through puberty, which is usually around 15-16, as far as I can tell?

Poor Maya, she must be feeling awful, but I think she showed more of a fight than she did at Courchevel when things started to go wrong. At the end of the day these girls are first-year juniors and they've always got next year to make the JGPF even if they falter now.

Visitors say they met her as she was leaving the venue to the hotel with her mom. She was crying inconsolably, but they complimented her and cheered her up, and she smiled.

I hope they assign Daria and Anna Frolova to Gdansk! Alysa will be there, yes, but a silver there is plenty for Daria to make the final this year, and would probably be better than facing Sinitsyna and Haein, plus Nastya Tarakanova, at Zagreb.

Daria is so amazing. Her programs look like they were thrown together in 10 minutes with 0 regards to the music, but her movements and her attempt to perform to the (awful) music is just outstanding. If she got programs of the same quality as Aliona and Anna last season (well, not a *huge* fan of Anna's, but they were at least choreographed to the music and fit her style, unlike Daria's) I think she would be comparable to them as well. I just can't say enough about the quality of her movement. From the tips of her fingers to the point of her toe, it's just divine. Seemless SS as well. If clean, she probably would've outscored Kamila (who made mistakes, I must note, so not a direct comparison) which definitely makes things a lot more interesting. I do think she has everything Kamila has (besides a quad) and a lot of those things are of better quality too (in my opinion--- both obviously incredibly talented) I'm glad the judges see what I see, too!

What's her next GP? I hope she will make the final.

Daria is so incredibly mature in body movement and expression. Facially of course she could improve, but that's secondary at this point given how wonderfully gifted she is in movement. So musical and expressive!

I never even noticed her facial expression or lack of. I was concentrating on her TOTAL expression with her body to the music. Exactly what was she supposed to do with her face with that song? I thought her facial expression was fine. She didn't just skate like a dead corpse, I thought she was extremely expressive. Great makeup too. Her face is very mature, I'd never have thought she was only 13. I'm Team Usacheva if you haven't figured that out yet!! lol

The jgp assignements have been a huge mess this year now it looks like daria will be in both poland and croatia which must be incorrect. I think we at this point can make any assumptions as to who is going to skate each week until the official draw is completed...

Some instagram accounts have the starting order for tomorrow in their instagram.

Sofia Samodurova
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
Evgenia Medvedeva
Alina Zagitova

Anna Shcherbakova
Stanislava Konstantinova
Aliona Kostornaya
Alexandra Trusova

Looks like no Sotskova, Gubanova or Sakhanovich. I don‘t have a link but the article in the story of that one fan account was from fsrussia.ru.

Here is the source. I’m surprised they didn’t put all of Team Tut in the same warm up

Seriously though, Rusfed putting Zhenya and Alina one after another have no mercy on these girls. The tension will be insane. :hopelessness:

I think those days are over a little. You could maybe theorize that they put them in that group so one didn't have to skate after someone doing a quad but I really don't think much of it.
