2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Are you suggesting that they made it after seeing Kamila's dress or sth?

No. Not at all. I dislike that they are very similar and I hope it doesn't exacerbate comparisons between the two. I assign no blame to this particular unfortunate happening, and I don't see how anyone could. It would be equally ludicrous to suggest that the copying went the other way around. It must be a coincidence -- just a very unfortunate one.

Eteri "let" Yulia get on the ice in this dress of course if I remember correctly at this point there had already been speculation that Yulia wanted to leave or was going to leave - Eteri might've been done with her at that point.

Because that would be acknowledging Zagitova has a technical disadvantage and she and her coaching team have put her in the same position that Evgenia was in 2018 - they watched a couple of junior girls train more difficult elements and from what we can see (and this is a group that appears to love to post on instagram their difficult jumps) hasn't done much in the way of training elements to match those Jr girls. Now those Jr. girls are seniors and she's got to play catch-up. The benefits she has over Evgenia is that she's 2 years out from the Olympics so she can possibly train quads and/or a triple axel and hopefully overcome any injuries that she might get trying to train the elements, whereas Evgenia it was an Olympic year she had to attempt to play the points game that Alina had. Additionally she has the benefit that she' been to and won the Olympics - it might be a bit of stain on her career for the talking heads and internet forums to talk about if she never makes it to another major competition again, but she's won everything at the end of the day; she could retire today with an incredibly successful senior career.

LOL what?!
Alina is in the same position as Evgenia, in a sense that this year a younger and stronger skaters are making a debut. However, no one was „watching juniors train harder elements“ and not letting Alina train them, and same goes for Evgenia. They were given the maximum tech they could’ve done at that point.
Have people forgotten Alina didn’t have ANY triples not too long ago? She’s was starting from a completely different point than Trusova, and Eteri did really help Alina progress at an immense speed.
Lmao... just a few years ago people were wondering how did Alina manage to learn 3Lz-3Lo that quick after having only doubles and now they’re wondering why she still doesn’t have quads.... jeez....

A) Can Alina and Eteri exist separately from Evgenia without being dragged into discussions that have nothing to do with them? I guess we’ll never know.
B) Discussing bodies is inappropriate.
C) Some of you defending your fave do that by insulting another skater, even going as far as talking about Alina‘s body and costumes, she has nothing to do with that catsuit. Chill people, „the best Defence is an attack“ is a ridiculous strategy.

Heyyy the senior season just started with an exciting competition and you guys talk about costumes and skaters'physical appearance? Dresses should be the last of our concerns. As long as skater likes her costume and it's not completely distracting and doesn't go against the rules, we should not shame anyone and bring up some speculations about how some coach would/would not let someone wear that.

And don't even let me start with the discussion of their bodies, all skaters are professional athletes who have a healthy body shape and it's all that matters.

Are you pretending that these shots prove anything? To me, the only thing they prove is that there is some person out there who has nothing to do but make stupid videos to troll a skater he/she doesn't like for other (and unworthy) reasons.

Regardless of the video, I don’t get your outrage about slowmotion videos of jumps being posted.
Don’t care/not even trying to discuss the rotation on that jump a single bit, but what looking at jumps in slow motion has to do with trolling? Is slowing down a video trolling?
You can see it better in slow motion than in full speed, it’s just a fact, and judge for yourself whether it looks rotated or not to you.

Whatever, Mathman, but I don’t think you need to shame people by calling them trolls just because of them discussing whether something was rotated or not, and because they present a slowed down version of the video.

Taking into account that according to you absolutely nothing can show an underrotation and we should just stop discussing it altogether, you seem like a very lenient judge to me :) you never see when the blade hits the ice and all videos in the world are sketchy/phony/fake made for trolling purposes. That’s an unbeatable standpoint right there  im going to use it when I need to :laugh2:
If I want to discuss whether there should’ve been an UR or edge call, I will and it 100% never has to do anything with trolling or anything personal.
Discussing technical elements is not a crime or something horrible, that you’re trying to make it out to be.

You should read more carefully, I didn't bring Alina into discussion and was against it.

I didn't talk about Alina, just her dress, which I did not like and would not like on anybody. You posting the tiger costume was not just bad looking but also inappropriate...

Costume is separate from the skater. Evgenia had plenty of bad dresses last year, eh.

Why does it matter at all what Eteri would think of her costume? Some of you sound like cult members. The universe does not revolve around her.

Tell that to those who blame Eteri for every negative thing in figure skating space, esp. those that matters to Evgenia

The technical panel must have been wearing sunglasses during medvedeva 3Lutz. It’s not an unclear edge, it’s a clear inside. I love medvedeva’s skating but I think the way she gets scored is unfair. She obviously deserves 2nd at this competition but I don’t think she deserved the score of 75.

No, she deserved more points

Haven't seen the programs but judging by the scores the girls were on fire today!

Camille said that the audience clapped so that she could not hear the music

It bothered me too, I’m almost unhappy that Chelyabinsk almost sold out completely...
All figure skating fans (especially those from test skates) need to learn how to behave from the Japanese crowd. Japanese audiences are the best of the best, hands down.

The crowd bothered me a bit as well. Maybe it's the quality of stream. I could even hear what people were speaking in addition to loud claps. Maybe the music had to be louder as well.

Also, hooray for Kseniia! Judges seem to like her as much as they like Kamila so she may have a good chance to win.

The audience test skates is insane:slink:

Wonderful skate for Kamila! Clean and 73+ for first junior season is insane. That is higher than anyone before right? I don't think even Alena got those scores first junior season.

Anna also had 73+ for her junior debut in Bratislava, but was lower by maybe a few tenths of a point if I'm remembering correctly. Alena and Sasha both debuted when backloading was still given a bonus and when GOE was scored out of 3, so it's harder to compare scores, but if I'm remembering correctly, neither broke 70 until JGPF and I don't think either of them broke 73 in their first season.

I recommend watching on the first channel (if there is no geoblock or with vpn) - there are other cameras and better sound, there are no chatter of people. I watch performances there, and on YouTube I listen to Ted after perfomance. Ted's team is good, but their equipment is obviously only suitable for regular junior competitions with a small crowd

Sasha's record in her first season is 73.25
