I missed the Russian Cup ladies sp. So, Guliakova is skating to Carmen? What is Talalakina using as her sp music?

I think something was wrong with the ice, or the rink today. I heard someone say it was too small which threw off everyone's patterns, but I think the ice itself might have been a problem. It seemed like all day long there were strange issues, people losing edges, etc.
There is nothing sad about it. Its called comepetition and sport. And I wish some of you would finally understand that at the end all the counts is the result and only that.I hear you but even in her horrible shape she is far better than Gracie was when she skated in russia last year. It is so sad to see her decline but it can't help with all the pressure from her compatriots. It is sad when the defending world and olympic champion is not a sure thing to go to worlds forget about the w two time world champ, o lympic silver medallist and current world bronze medallist looks so far out contention right now.
Then why are you bringing it up lol?

Totally agree.

She still ended up below Ivett Toth and that should be embarrassing enough for her to give up her GP spot.

Heel-ography? Is that analogous to 'armography' a term I learned from BBC's "Strictly Come Dancing" show daily features with this ballet critic and his 'magic wand'? Completely off topic, I know.
But what do you mean by 'heel-ography'?

Horrible comment. Not only is it disrespectful to Ivett but Sotskova as well. She‘s struggling, yes, but she earned that GP spot. There is a certain criteria and she fulfilled it. And in no way should she be “embarrassed enough to give up her GP spot“. What kind of person are you, to talk about a skater who works hard everyday like that? Especially after everything Maria‘s gone through? Seriously.
Wow. This is so sad I don‘t even know what to say. Is this really what this sport, or any sport really, is about? I hope it‘s not because otherwise I should ask myself why I‘m still watching... Of course results matter but they shouldn‘t be the end all be all. Sometimes it‘s the journey that‘s far more interesting than the result will ever be.
I have to disagree about Sotskova. Today she had the chance to prove herself, but instead she was spiralling down even further. I admire her will to not give up, but today it was clear that she has lost her jumps, lost her stamina. So I don't think she is fighting enough. Everyone can have a bad day, and should be encouraged to come back from that. Sotskova has now had a bad year and I don't see any improvements. Of course she can control her assignments - she got that GP spot because she wanted to, and because she still ranks high enough in the world standings. But I doubt that she can finish in the top 10 at GP France (out of 12).
But what is really unfair though, is that because of that GP spot Maria also has a free ticket to RusNats. Does she really want to go there and fight for the last places like last year?. Meanwhile, there are many talented hungry girls that fight for their lives in the Group Stages of Russian Cup to grab one of the 5-6 places that's left for them. So no, I don't think Sotskova shall hold on to her spots just because she can, when she at the same time is making it harder for the ones who would love the opportunity to show themselves.
Tsurskaya had a bad year last season as well. She knew that she had to fight harder than ever to come back and realised she didn't have the motivation for that. She publically said so. As much as I loved Tsurskaya and hated to see her go, I admire her decision to resign. I am not saying Maria should resign, if she wants to skate and doesn't want to give up. Fine. But she has to fight. It was clear to me comparing Sakhanovich and Sotskova today. It was like night and day. One is a fighter - the other not - imo.

not sure if you got the context - please read again. so you rather give sotskova lets say a spot for european instead of lets say zhenya because she has a hard time privetly at the moment not caring about results? thats is wow for me. you all complain about reputation scoring. however when it is in favor for your favorites than it woud be ok. sad an unfair
When did I eve say that?? It could not be more obvious that Sotskova is as far away from making the Euros team as probably possible. And by the way, it's not like Zhenya is all that likely to make it herself this year. Too many girls for only three spots. So, I don't get that question. Give the girls the spots that deserve them. Of course I'd prefer to see Zhenya skate live at Euros. But I'm not pretending that it's likely to happen and if other girls skate better at Nationals, they'll deserve it more. End of question. I do care about results, this is a sport after all. And I would not give Sotskova anything just because she's struggling privately other than basic human decency and respect. I don't think she should be judged more leniently, I don't think she should be given any spots she doesn't deserve. All I'm saying is that some of the harsh comments here, saying "she should be embarrassed" etc are way too harsh and out of line. She earned her spot this year. If she skates miserably she won't get anything for next year anyway and rightfully so.
And btw, I answered to your comment in a different context, not exactly related to Sotskova. It was more the "results are the only thing that mattered" that bothered me. And Sotskova is far from my favourite, I don't even like her skating and have criticized her rather harshly in the past. But it's a bit different to judge someone's results and skating than attacking them personally for lacking "motivation" or "fighting qualities" and saying they should give up their spots out of embarrassment.
