2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Actually it is not. Edges, stroking, one foot skating and generating speed effortlessly are... but speed does not necessarily mean "very fast"

Also speed isn't the only way to skate well and certainly has not much to do with rotation unless you mean speed of rotation itself.

Liza Tuktamysheva skates slowly but can do 3As

1. I mean speed in rotations.
2. Speed in rotation correlates well with skating speed.
3. Tuktamysheva has clearly more speed in skating and rotations than Kihira or Miyahara.
4. Everyone on this level has edges and can skate on one foot.
Speed makes the differrence.

Rotating speed in the air has literally nothing to do with how well someone generates speed with their blades on the ice.

Pretty hilarious that you believe otherwise tbh.

Sasha did get a UR call on her 3Lz-3Lo at Japan open earlier this season, so although it didn’t count officially, she (like all skaters) can UR a jump if she’s a little bit off. And if she is in fact sick, it makes a lot of sense not to risk it, as loop combos require perfect timing to get up into the 2nd jump.

I don’t think a 2 point deficit is going to stop her from winning the event by quite a large margin if she skates her LP similarly to her performances so far this season.
Clean Sasha is always takes zero. The margin with the 2nd place puts her into her own league.
One quad down here in Rustelekom means nothing, no other quadster/trixelist to overtake. Two quads down may position her 2nd or 3rd. Still qualified for GPF.

Is there any reason that Alena Kostornaya does not gets always 9.5 in PCS, because she is with her skating skills and speed much better then anyone ?

Sorry, but i mean the rotation speed in spins, spirals etc, not jumps.

There is clearly a correlation.

The only reason I can think of is it’s the beginning of her first senior season. Hopefully her PCS will rise to reflect her actual level next week at NHK. She is already receiving record PCS for a new senior, even though I agree with you that it’s not enough.

That said, if you look at her protocols from Finlandia and GP France, a couple of judges seemed to value her SS at above the 9.0 mark. Hopefully a few more judges will follow suit and judge based on her actual performance and not on her new senior status.

It a little bit unfair to downgrade a junior skater, its much easier to skate when you are older have more power.

There are no such reasons.
Alena's speed, control and technic is the best in the world.
Sasha has the most difficult jumps. The most beautiful jumps has Alena.

But today, Zhenya Medvedeva showed really good skating.

By the way, Bradie shares went up sharply. She actually has a really good day today.

Maybe you should read up on what actually earns points in Skating Skills

Hint: speed is only one aspect and it does not say everyone has to fly around at super high speed.
Liza's skating is notoriously slow, and now you've added Japanese skaters to the argument. Why?
Rotation has nothing to do with SS and isn't mentioned in conjunction with it.

I meant people who come here just to air their dislike of certain skaters

This is a sport competiotion.
And in sport, there are differences in skills.
I dont dislike Medvedeva(she is not TOP15 in Russia anymore to be honest, but she deserved her WC titles) or Miyahara, i just dont see them in top positions. This holds specially for PCS scoring.

BTW its a little bit unfair to me, to write that i hate this girls.

Yes, Medvedeva has so far effectively blocked out Bell and Miyahara from GPF. Is it wrong of me that I want Zhenya to let Bell get the silver tomorrow? I really want Bell to be in the GPF, I'm loving her this season.:slink:

From wiki:
Skating skills (SS) reward use of edges and turns, flow over the ice surface, speed and acceleration, ice coverage, clean and controlled curves, multi-directional skating, and mastery of one-foot skating (no overuse of skating on two feet).

So speed and acceleration is the only thing that makes the difference.

I agree, she added in China.

But of the American women, I’m used to choosing Tennell. Ever since the time when she tried to copy Alina.

Show me where I said you hate them? I said dislike

You've spent two pages calling Zhenya slow and boring so I'm confused as to why you think that would give anyone the impression that you like her?
And a few days ago you were not too kind to Miyahara either.

TOP 15? Or top 5? She may struggle to stay top 5 but that isn't because she isn't good but she and other ladies are unable to compete with the quadsters and new 3A Queen Kostornaia.

What the hell?

Everything on that list counts and makes a difference.

You can have a skater who flies around the ice like her hair is on fire, but if she is no good at any of those other things she will lose points.

It's so funny that many people in here are against zhenya but most of the skaters and athletes just love her, including Sasha for example. You should take her as an example. She looks up to zhenya , still does . In the interviews they were lovely to watch together. And for that matter zhenya has been the one that claps when Sasha lands her quads or other jumps. But I am probably waisting my time because the ones i mean in here will never want to see it that way.
