2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I think the question if Trusova needs 5 quads has finally been answered.

And no, she isn't risking anything, she needs all 5 of them.
Trusova said in her interview after the SP the coaches ordered her to drop 3Ax. The argument was there is selection in process so no risking justified.

From my point of view Tutberidze has made a decision who is her favorite and it isn't Sasha.

It's obvious that she is planning to do 5 cleanly.

At worlds, she will most likely have 3A in SP and 5 Quads + maybe a 3A in LP.

She needs at very least, 4 Quads to beat clean Alena with 3 3As and if Alena is at her best, even that may not be enough.
Okay. But let's be real Sasha is under a lot of mental and physical stress every competition much more so than anyone in the history of ladies figure skating.
She needs 6 quads to beat RusFed (not Alyona). "Shame? Sporting principles? Never heard of them" - RusFed.
What? Shame? Again what?

Casual I will always remember Adelina and Alina fondly and not just because they were the first two ladies figure skating Olympic gold medalists for Russia. You're very aggressive posts against them in the Russian ladies forum is perplexing to many. Your opinion is not everyone's. But you of course are entitled to your opinion and strong feelings.

Has the short program ended yet?

Good girl!!! That look of sheer determination during her combo.

You do not know how relieved I was after that last jump!!!
Me too, God I was just praying that her boots will hold up. I do not care in what place she ends up as long as she come out of theses rusnats without injury because she was skating on broken boots

What a terrible thing to say about the queen of coaches! First of all Eteris personal favorite has to be Anna because she's coached her for 12 years and Anna is like her third daughter. :) ;) it's so early in these three girls careers there's no reason to be bitter yet just because Alyiona is the best skater in the world.

Well, Zhenya did it best she could. The determination this girl has is insane!! On broken boots and she skates like this.

Also insanely happy for Aliona. That 3A was a thing of beauty.

Competition is over for now, and while the top skaters performed really admirably (also happy for Stanislava's redemption!), I'm a bit sad for those who didn't have the day they wanted (both Ksenia Sinitsyna and Ksenia Tsibinova, and Maria Talalaikina especially).

Seeing how exquisite Anna's short was made me so happy for her and proud of how lovely of a skater she is, and while I understand the difference between her and Alyona, I am disappointed. It seems as if it is more rewarding to learn a 3A than a quad because of the SP rules, and that just isn't fair to me - quads should be worth more, and the difference in BV doesn't compare to the loss of not being able to do it in the short. If Alyona is clean tomorrow, she will win even if Anna is also clean, I fear, and I just don't know if I'd agree with that, though I love the skating of both girls (and Sasha, of course!)

Anyways, congratulations to the top 5 - those were amazing skates - and to everyone who skated clean, and may tomorrow bring redemption for those who didn't .

Overall the competition was a bit rougher than expected.

i wasn't expecting big mistakes from Gubanova, Tsibinova and Sinitsyna.

Or maybe it is her favourite and she wants to prove that Sasha Trusova can skate clean programs.

I wished she made that decision for Samsonov too.

Kseniia Sinitsyna was a highlight. She might’ve fallen on the 3Lz but the step sequence that followed the fall was absolutely exquisite. So much maturity, elegance and attention to detail.

Shout out to Nastya Gulyakova for doing so well as a replacement!

I can't help but feel different levels of sad for Liza T., Zhenya, Stasya and Sofia, even though none of them fell...

Big surprise of the event: Anna Frolova changed coach last minute and went to CSKA with Davydov.

Probably a smart move.

haha I have had practice with Rika last year who at one point was using dark coloured tape (looked like she fished boots from a dumpster somewhere and tacked them onto her feet) so I was kinda not freaking out too much about the boots.

I just wanted her to skate clean and feel good/ok about herself. Every time she lifted off the ice, even thought the jumps looked fine I held my breath.

She did so well!!! This has got to be good for her confidence! Just a few more jumping passes Zhenya and you will get through this!

For zhenya I am just happy and relieved that she came through clean on a broken boot. She is not going without fighting with everything she has. The mental strength she has to have, to have such a thing coming with the broken boot and then skating cleanly . Wow. And I am so happy for Alyona, she was just beyond amazing
