2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Rodina is a deranged attention wh.re. Go watch some of her silly live-streams. Her, under black light, naked in a bathrobe, huge glasses on, ranting and raving ....

She had access to Zhilina in an empty changing room, after today’s short program, which Zhilina won. No parent, no Rozanov around apparent, so did she sneak her way in to steal another trophy for her IG front page?

AFAIK, FFKKR and FKKM know about her ‘condition’, but cannot prevent her from accessing the skaters in private?

Her latest trophies seem to include Plyushchenko, Medvyedeva, but most of all she seems to go after the female child skaters, who probably are ease to appease and impress by ‘this kind auntie with her bag full of sweets’.

Off topic: Does someone know what is a mushroom skater?
I saw it written in another forum about FS. But do not get it. I know it is related to small jumps?

The full video with English subtitles is definitely worth watching!

Aliona is hilarious! Especially near the end (around 9:00) when she's describing the woman who wouldn't let her peek out of the curtain to watch the other ladies skate!

Yeah, man, I honestly have 0 clue.
She's sort of strange all around, she cusses and calls figure skaters 'prostitutes', I have absolutely no idea what's so appealing about her content to any of these girls.
And why some even agree to do interviews with her.
Perhaps they like that she's this edgy and 'risky' persona?

afaik, she also said she would've slashed/beaten Orser's face for what happened with Medvedeva at Skate Canada. Was she joking? if yes, her humor is quite strange sometimes.... to put it mildly.

Rodina threatened to slash Orsers face? What happened to Zhenya at Skate Canada? Didn't rodina also threatened to cut Alina? The Federation should have put her on their blacklist and made sure their skaters did not follow her and cheer on her vicious act at all. Is princess aliona still following her on Instagram? Good God I hope not.

I truly do not understand why some skaters want to do in-depth 30 minutes to an hour interviews with her. It did no good for Nastya and I don't think it helped Nugumanova in any way. Being edgy it's one thing but rodina is not edgy she is vile and vicious.

We don't know that anyone knew there was a risk of misdiagnosis, though. When you get a diagnosis, you take it as fact until there is indication of otherwise. She could have had a discomfort in 2018, felt better and the doctor cleared her with no indication of injury, then went about training normally until she felt pain again, and finally realized with a doctor that it was the same injury that was never healed and made worse by training. From what I can tell, the knowledge of a possible misdiagnosis came when Kanysheva started visiting clinics outside of the city/stopped skating; when they noticed that she was injured. But it seems that by then it was too late. I'm not sure what kind of injury from the sport would be this difficult to diagnose as it seems to be that breaks/sprains/muscle issues are quite common and standard, but that's what it looks like to me.

These are very valid arguments and I 100% agree with them. The only thing that I could think of would have been a back injury of some sort. Since there is such a wide variety of back injuries and the back can be effected by so many different joints and muscles. The impact of landings and difficult spin positions may have also contributed as well. At my rink back injuries are extremely common and many of the skaters at my rink have had back problems. Luckily I have been able to avoid them.

The Russian Federation seems to be way behind the times when it comes to protecting very young athletes from an oddball like Rodina who say horrible things about incredible Russian athletes. Not just horrible things but strange and vicious and threatening. It's odd that the Russian Federation would allow this person access to some of their talent like she's their friend. The Fed isn't exactly proactive are they? Lol.

I have to say though, I am very critical of sports culture where training and competing with too much injury is encouraged. A very promising Russian artistic gymnast, Ekaterina Sokova retired at 16 due to needing a hip replacement. She told her coaches she had pain but they belittled her, saying she was lazy, a troublemaker ect. Had she been taken seriously, perhaps she could have healed and returned to the sport. Russian AG has nothing resembling the depth FS has on the female side. So not only was this attitude toward a young athlete disgusting, it was just plain stupid to ruin their own athlete. Russian artistic is run by idiots though. Alena was worth sacrificing in women's singles because she is literally replaceable. She may have had injury before going to Eteri, but it can only have been exacerbated by training the 4T. Had she held off, she may still be doing ladies singles right now. There imo is a reason we are not seeing many other countries racing for quads yet, they simply cannot afford to lose the few women they have. Russian depth is great for Russia as a whole, but it clearly means some will be "sacrificed" for that strength. The amount of young age skaters is immense. I watch the competitions on youtube, the 10, 11 year olds. So many with so much potential but most will likely be out of the sport in a few years.

Both Russian gymnastics and FS is like selection program of elite military units, it's a meat grinder most wont survive, but the ones who will... Reminds me shocked german coach who watched training of young Russian figure skater girls in Turkey, later he said that in Germany, even officers can't shout at soldiers like Russian coaches were shouting at 10 years old girls

These skaters don't take risks for fun, they need it. Sure it is cruel, but competition that fierce and sense that if you blink somebody else will replace you is that makes Russia dominant in both of these disciplines.

Also it's how people see sport and mentality thing... Irina Viner also has 'disgusting attitude' from western point of view(she is far, far, far 'worse' than Eteri) but every gymnast in Russia dreams of becoming her student.

So it was official the RusFed decided to send those who medaled at EC to the Worlds. Trusova included with Tuktamisheva being 1st subst.

Thoughts on 2020 Moscow Novice Championships.

1. Entertaining tourney - a lot of ups and downs, comebacks (Dzepka) and 'disasters' (Gordieeva).
2. Streaming sucked a bit.
3. The level of both groups compared to Shcherbakova, Trusova and Kostornaia at their age is MIND-BOGGLING. 2013-16 triple "A" would have gotten destroyed by this generation of 9-12yos.

Younger Age (b. 2009+):
4. Bravo Lenochka Kostyleva! Barely 8yo (b. 11.10.2011) kid advanced to Nationals! Is it an all time record? I bet it is! Great talent!:gclap:
5. It must have tasted sweet for Plushenko to kick Tutberidze's butt in this one - congrats to winner Sofia Titova!
6. Dzepka has risen from 10th after SP and she was brilliant in StSq and FS, what an artistic talent.
7. Rubtsova would have won this, if she didn't dig herself a hole in elements. Silver is still great.
8. Shifrina and Lysykh look promissing as well - the whole top 6 advancing to Nats from younger group do.

Older Age (b. 2007-08):
9. Feel like participants have had more bumps on their road than in younger age.
10, Samodelkina was best skater here, both artistically and technically (apart from FS).
11. Zhilina horrible short (16th place!), very good elements and PHENOMENAL free! The complicated entry to that quad was jaw-dropping. Will she be stronger jumper than Trusova? It certainly looks possible!
12. Petrosyan and Akatieva a bit shaky in this one. Good FS from both. Sofia grows into beautiful young lady with fantastic lines and grace. Growing pains probably.
13. Congrats to Zakharova and all top 6 Nats participants.

Most of championships performances are available on scout bureau (Eng names) and SashaWitchProject (Rus names) youtube channels. :agree:

No surprises there. It also shows that Russian Nationals means literally everything . Not that it matters this year, but GPs and Challengers seem to have little to no effect. Having Guliakova as 2nd alternate is kind of remarkable. She has no international competitions this year that counts for SB, only Denis Ten Memorial and Tallinn Trophy where she scored 175 and 170 points respectively. Vasilieva, Tarakanova, Samodurova, Nugumanova and Sakhanovich all have much better international scores than that. And of course Medvedeva and Zagitova, but I guess those two have decided that they won't compete anymore this season.

It also makes me think about Shulskaya. She was only two points behind Guliakova at RusNats. Had she beaten her she could have been 2nd alternate for Worlds!

Since you seem to be up to date on this comp. Do we know who advanced to Nats or are there more qualifying comps left?

And Aliona really likes to watch other skaters
look here at IDF

One of the dynamics of the 3a I like is the way cute princess Anna watches Aliona when she's being Aliona at full force, like when she was torturing the microphone and the ears.
Thei're so different and that's why they are a great trio

It is not top 6, it is top 7 that advance to Novice Nationals. So Gordeeva and Morozova get to go as well.
