Lets wait for Alexandra to tell us her reasons. Maybe it was all very amicable between her and Eteri's camp. Sometimes people just need a change.

To be honest Alexandra's skating skills aren't as complete as Alena, Alina or Anna and if she is having jumping issues maybe change is necessary.

Honestly.. folks leave coaches all the time. I know some of you love Eteri but she isn't immune to students making other choices.

you are right, but unfortunately to the anti-Eteri gang this will only add fuel to the fire for the argument that Eteri can't coach skaters past a certain age/have longevity with students.

i am very afraid Sasha's career has ended before it really began...

i think she should have given it another season before deciding. she still medaled in all events she took part in this year. she is a GPF and European medalist. those are huge accomplishments in your first senior season, and it looked as if she was on her way up before worlds was cancelled. if she still struggled next season, thats reasonable- entertain a switch. but jumping the gun is not always a smart decision...

Sasha has a lot of talent and is a very special skater, but i'm not at all confident she will be with coaches who can bring out the best in her. i think Raf would have been great with her, especially training with Nathan. i hope we will be surprised.

But next season is the one before the Olympics, it's too late if she still wants to aim for 2022.

If she wanted to leave and still have a chance at Beijing then now was the time.

The decision for the transition is mainly the parents', or more accurately, the father's. I believe Sasha could stay in the Eteri group and resolve whatever issues together with the coaches. As an athlete, Sasha has grown so much under Eteri, I really believe the group has the capacity and will to help Sasha achieve greater success.

However, her father might see things differently. I think he is anxious to achieve quicker and bigger success, but he ignored the fact that Sasha is in the process of achieving great successes.

I recall a while ago there's an article about how the father decided to switch to Eteri, and the old coach were not happy because the father was too strong-minded. The father is doing the same now. I think he is near sighted.

I just wish Sasha good luck!

Plyushchenko will want that, to spin out in his favour, in his hatred of Khrustalniy and the other state schools.

Everybody will be forced to take positions and sides again, any quarrels, struggles or even fights are detrimental to all skaters' chances and wellbeing, and only inflate Plyushchenko’s blown up ego more.

To be honest, Sergei's move was much more surprising to me than Sasha's, though it is obviously easily understandable. I've used it already, but I think it suits here as well. ABBA explanation is on its way. From Sasha's perspecive, she will have somebody she knows (as the relations with Volkov could turn problematic).

Of course it can be a problem for youger girls, maybe not Kamila, Daria and Maiia now, I presume they would train with the A team already, rather for the youngers, Sofia, Veronika, Lyubov etc.

I always thought the 5 quad program was a terrible idea and thought it was a strange strategy from Eteri who has shown she can and will water down a program for scoring benefit (Kamila's beautiful JGPF skate with no quads).

It very well may be that. Eteri was also not a proponent of putting 3A in, since it wasn’t too stable for Sasha, and I think that made Sasha and her parents upset.
I really hope that Plushenko can achieve success with Sasha, I really do. I just want Sasha to succeed no matter what, she’s an exceptional kid.

Biggest possible problem for them can be lack of attention, TGD will be 100% busy with new(old?) 3A.

Kamila is a different case, she has just recovered from injury before JGPF and according to her own words she had to persuade Eteri to allow her to start there at all. Having no quads was partially a safety precaution, partially I doubt it would be possible to regain them so fast. But at junior nationals and junior worlds Kamila had her quads back.

I support Sasha changing coaches if that’s what she thinks she needs to achieve her goals, but I wish it wasn’t to Plushenko!!
I agree with those who suggested Raf or Davydov.
