2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

Totally forgot about Karen Chen and Gabriella Izzo. Where does everyone think they will land in the standings at nationals?

Karen Chen’s always seemed to get better results at nationals. If she’s okay and has a little time to train with her coach before, I think she could get top 5-7 if it goes well for her. She has high scoring potential if she skates moderately clean.

Not sure about Gabriella Izzo. She doesn’t seem to have the scores to be in the top 5, but I don’t know much about her career.

Can’t wait to see Hanna Harrell compete again soon. How she performs will tell us a lot.

I think that at this nationals, Amber Glenn could beat Hanna and Ting if she JUST SKATES CLEAN. Amber could totally be pewter medalist.

I think if Ting skates anything close to clean like she did last year in the LP at Nationals she won't lose to Amber.

Here's how Amber has done at previous US Championships:

2019: 7th overall; 4th in SP, 8th in FS
2018: 8th overall; 9th in SP and FS
2017: 8th overall; 12th in SP, 8th in FS
2016: did not make Nationals
2015: 13th overall; 7th in SP and 15th in FS
2014: Won the Junior National Championship

Seems Amber has had a pattern at the Senior level where she does well in one segment, but so far has not skated equally well in both SP and FS.

I was reading the ladies GPF prediction lists and they all have Bradie placing 6th. Personally, if she skates well, the fact that she's there is enough for me. She's had a great season and with 2 good skates she'll have a ton of momentum going into Nationals and she'll need it to hold off a very good Mariah Bell.

it looks like we have a teaser for a 4T by Alysa

here is a new article by Phil Hersh today mentioned in the caption. looks like she upgraded her FS layout- first 4 passes are 3A+2T, 4Lz+3T, 4Lz, 3A

so glad she is working with kostner and lori, just imagine her going in this jumps with real speed and flow. maby she can teach kostner some quads in return;-)

This is the first year that I think Mariah has a legitimate shot at being the #1 senior in the US. In other words, she could win silver at Nationals :)

Alysa mentioned on her live today that she isn’t going to the Youth Olympics in January.

Happy Thanksgiving US fans!

The YOG require that each athlete be of a certain age. For this game, athletes have to be born between 1 January 2002 and 31 December 2005.
Hannah Harrel could compete (born Sept 2003) where Starr Andrews cannot (born June 2001).

I read an adorable interview where she (Alysa) poked fun at her speed. I can't remember the exact quote but it was something along the lines of "I'm pretty slow."

She's so charming and really has the IT factor besides the jumps.

That jump layout is nuts but if anyone can land those jumps out of sheer will, it's Alysa.

I knew it! When the camera panned at Skate America and showed Alysa sitting in the audience during the ladies free skate, I was sure she was going to add that second 4Lz. She'd just seen Anna win with two 4Lzs and you could just see the gears in her head turning. Well it's an absolutely insane layout but hey, she's young, might as well go for it. Do we know if she plans to keep the 3A-3T in her short? (Also impressed that she's been working with Kostner.)

BTW, I don't think it's been posted here yet but Hanna Harrell has withdrawn from Golden Spin (listed as withdrawn on 11/30 on USFS's website) :( Looks like the injury was worse than we thought. I hope she'll be able to go to Nationals.

Gracie was interviewed for access Hollywood and skated in Rockefeller center today according to her Instagram.

Yeah and did a photoshoot with Julep Beauty. She is really going full tilt with the PR and social media right now. It has me a tad worried because it's such a 180.

Ashley Wagner also pokes fun at herself on instagram quite often about being on brand with two foot skating and lots of crossovers :)

i also think it's a big accomplishment for Bradie to even be at GPF. this is the toughest and most competitive season for ladies skating in history, and just having made it is a huge accomplishment. she should be very proud!

i'm hoping Alysa's work with Carolina continues well into her future, this is a huge opportunity to take advantage of. she can help her with all areas of program components...and who better to work with than the queen of PCS herself?

and i'm really sad to hear Hanna withdrew. i hope she just feels she needs a little more time before getting back on competitive ice again and it's nothing serious. hoping we see her for nationals.

To be fair the 2018 results aren't a clear representation of her skills - she skated with the flu.- as did several members of Cain camp. ( I know Alex K was pretty sick and still skated)
