And we have a 3Lz-3Lo from Gabriella Izzo! Landed, but the 3Lo looked UR. Nonetheless, a great effort and applause for actually landing it

I thought she didn't have a 3-3 when she was on the JGP? Wow, what a great improvement for her! :)

Watching the replay now that I'm home, and Emilia Murdock looks just like a mini Mariah Bell! Also, her arms are seriously ripped! #lifegoals

Odd seeing all my nats buds in the audience (Attendence seems light even for Jrs. )
Hi Andy and Ev, David and Shirley, Janice and Terry, Hi Clarence, Trina...

The feed is pretty much raw...no score box, no writing on the screen....no replay....

NBCSPORTSGOLD contines to work well. Hint: If you are plugging in a laptop into your bigscreen, you can also use an opto cable to go from your tv audio out to your stereo audio in and enjoy good quality stereo.

I watched Junior Ladies FS. What a disappointment - only Audrey Shin looks as she really has triples. Others - as programs (with not so complex content) are overcomplicated for them and because of this quality of elements was low and mistakes were multiple.
Junior Men (and Top 3 of Novice Men) look much better.

I can't understand - why girls' level is so low with respect to boys'.

That's really not accurate though.

SP:
Audrey--3 triples, all UR
Emilia--2 triples (1 edge call), 1 double, no UR
Gabriella--3 triples, 1 UR

FS:
Gabriella--6 triples, including 4 in 3-3 combos (plus one planned but missed entirely combo, no UR
Audrey--7 triples, 4 in combination, 3 UR
Emilia--6 triples, including 2 in 3-2 combos (and including one planned but missed combo), 1 UR on aforementioned missed combo

It's not Audrey who I'd say "really has triples" out of those protocols. 70% of hers were called UR; that's a huge percentage.

I think the reasons are complex. I know nothing about skating but I know a bit about a major shift in US Culture and economics in the last 40-50 years. My belief is that in the US , skating, which used to be bigger than basket ball, is out of favor in the culture. There are other more complex US cultural issues which are too sad and numerous to go into here. So number one, and first and foremost, less interest by young ladies to take up the sport in the US.
But two, money, and financial hygene, are issues. The average air traffic controller in the US makes $125,000 a year. You would think they all, being intellegent, would have saved up six months of salery over the years for emergency as history has proven that the paychecks can stop at any time for many reason, like govt shutdowns. But even they are starting to carp about no paychecks, let alone the poorly paid TSA agents. So even if a US lady wants to take up skating and has talent, family finances are a big issue. And with fan flight, there are fewer people like me who donate to young skaters programs.

Honestly, with as much as skating costs, I think it's a marvel there's any skaters! But we've had this discussion about a zillion times on the forum. The way I see it, skating in different countries goes through ebbs and flows. Japan has got great men and women, no dance or pairs to speak of. Russia has young girls coming out of their ears, but rather less depth in every other field. The US has dance teams *everywhere*, all the way down through the levels, and rather less depth in every other field. 10 years ago things were differently apportioned; in 10 years it'll be different too. I don't get the hand-wringing.

As for me Audrey's triples in FS (I did not see SP) look better than of others.
She had better exits.

Oh, I didn't see the exits, so I can't speak to those. I actually missed the whole FS because of evening commitments. But ultimately, if she can't get those URs under control, she'll go the same way as most of the rest of the US ladies--buried in the middle of the heap. I hope not, of course! I hope she can get it under control, but it seems like fixing URs is a really thing to do. My money is more on the others who have clean jumps, even if they're not as fancy yet. We'll see how things pan out as they all grow though...

I think next season US Juniors will be much more ambitious with jumps then this current crop. The top 2 in Intermediate both want to move up to Juniors next season and have harder jumps then what the Juniors this year showed. Of course if Alysa wasn't so ambitious she would normally be skating as a Junior at her age so it looks like we have no Juniors that can compete technically against the rest of the world which isn't the case it just means we don't have the depth. Sadly having 17,18 year old Junior ladies champions which has happened in the last few years means those girls are way behind technically with those in Russian and Japan.
