It's really difficult to make these kinds of blanket assessments when anything can happen at competitions, especially after this unprecedented and unpredictable season. It's not a normal season of training and competition, so the Worlds outcome in all disciplines is truly up-in-the-air.Any idea will Canada retain three dance spots. I think that is likely. But the ladies yikes I imagine Canada will hold on to two spots in pairs even if both American teams beat them both. \The pressure is on Keegan to get two spots for the men. 3 Americans, 3 Japanese, 1 Russian, 1 Chinese are likely ahead. So he is going to have to beat say Bychenko, The French, Cha, Italy to get in the top ten Definitely posible
And Keegan is one of my very favorite male skaters. It is so interesting how much opinions differ.Personally I find Keegan Messing’s programs extremely empty and his skating somewhat stiff. But he still has a chance to place well over other much better skaters because he’s had uninterrupted practice time during this unusual year. I would not be surprised to see lots of skaters not skate well here.

Still shaking my head about the Men’s World Champs selection process. I think it would a good idea for SC to make a statement as to how they selected Keegan over Roman. No offence to Keegan. It has been too many disappointments for Roman beyond his control when he has shown he is our strongest candidate.... now and in the future. What about the benefit of the doubt given to others named to the team? Just sayin. I know Men’s is only one spot to fill but didn’t Nam and Keegan get us in this position? More benefit of the doubt. SMH.
You sound like you do feel personally offended ( sour) that Keegan is the one who goes to the Worlds.... Better wish him to skate his very best and it will give to your favorite one an opportunity to go to the Olympics.
And who are you to know "other much better skaters"? It is little ibt too much of personal bitterness here.
They did?

International Selection Criteria

If you use this, you can see that it was pretty even between the three of them based on this criteria, and Keegan's score from Skate America was higher than Roman's from SCC.
exactly.. let's not blame skate Canada.. they had 3 men for one spot... See.. I might have gone with Nam... though I think Roman is potentially better ... and they went with Keegan... There are arguments for and against any of the 3 skaters... but it's not Skate Canada that is to blame but covid... Apparently, in monitoring, Keegan landed the 4lutz. That would make him the only of those 3 skaters with two different quads, a huge asset in order to achieve top ten. In the end, what we all hope is that it will give Canada the best chance for 2 spots next year, when it matters most. After a long internal debate, I think Keegan is the safest bet ... followed by Nam... and though I adore Roman, I would have to put him in 3rd spot there... based on international results... so I am happy I am not part of the selection committee... I see this selection mathematically... for instance... what are the odds of Roman placing in top 10??? probably lower than the other two... though Roman has probably the best odds to get the highest score if clean... but what odds are the most important??? the ones that secure a top ten... or the ones that may bring you a top 8 if clean... but if not clean are way out of top ten????We have the criteria. It is tough when there is not equal opportunity to show your goods. Covid is the culprit. gotta be tough for all athletes.
I get Keegan is beloved around here but to call someone bitter, sour, etc. because they don't enjoy his skating... Is that necessary? You sound like you do feel personally offended ( sour) that Keegan is the one who goes to the Worlds.... Anyway the Canadians are off to Worlds! At least the pairs are, according to several Instagram stories. Really looking forward to seeing Trennt and Evelyn, they kinda became my lowkey faves last season and it was a bummer when they didn't do the Challenge.
How did he show that?It has been too many disappointments for Roman beyond his control when he has shown he is our strongest candidate.... now and in the future.
I mean, by that standard, Keegan is the only reason we still had a second spot to lose after his unexpectedly strong showing at 2018 Worlds. 2019 Worlds was an unusually bad event for both Keegan and Nam; but it's far more relevant how they've been skating now than how they skated then.I know Men’s is only one spot to fill but didn’t Nam and Keegan get us in this position?
That's what I thought. Isn't Keegan the only Canadian Man to be in front of an international panel this season? They did?
