OK, so I was sitting working at my laptop and this awful musical was on TV. I was too absorbed in what I was doing so I didn't change the channel. And then this song came..."This is me". I recognised this! It's Talalaikina's free program music before Maleficent! Turns out it is from the musical "The Greatest Showman", which I didn't know as I know nothing about musicals. It also turns out this song won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Academy Award! That is horrifying! The song is beyond cheesy...

You need to read what else I have written in the thread on this topic after that post.

The simple point is that no dance choreographer is going to hold it to the standard of dance.

In fact, we've seen a ballet dancer *praise* Valieva's Bolero. I hardly think it's because she doesn't know ballet.
Yes, by Natalia Osipova, one of my favorites. See flanker's post from Kamila's fan fest:
Osipova praises Kamila

I don't even have to know specifically which song you mean because I found them all cheesy

Well, I should have changed the channel, because now I suffer from having all this horrendous songs in my head. Can't stand musicals I'm afraid.

I have to admit though, that I can sing-a-long to every song of "Sound of Music", which is scary.

"I am sixteen, going on seventeen, I know that I'm naive..." tra-li-la...

Awwww, I love the music from The Greatest Showman.

That's just it. FS choreography can't be measured in points. Subjective yes, but also influenced by politics.
Take 10 people. 9 of 10 are actors, while 1 is true blue. When 9 start pointing to a white ball and call it black, chances are the 10th would start calling it black too. Plush paid lot of money for the Shae-Lynn Bourne piece. I wouldn't pay a penny, because it is just bad.
Well I think the program as a whole is rather empty but the step sequence is absolutely gorgeous and no one can convince me otherwise. The steps are unique, and when she does it well (in the practice videos) she has great speed, flow and refinement. But my main point are is you can't really say "it's bad". I used to make these kinds of mistakes in which I just assumed my opinion was the opinion but it isn't. You might think it's bad, but I don't think it's bad by any means. So to say "the choreography is bad" in a factual form is incorrect.

LoL! Overhyped and oversold, if you like. No comparison to "Girl on a Ball" piece (sorry, don't know who choreographed it), which is full of genuine poetry.

I thought none of Aliona's four programs was really bad and while they lacked some wow factor, I think she presented them all beautifully, but she certainly had some stamina problems.
Many people said they were too empty, but I don't think busy programs are the one and only approach to high PCS. Carolina Kostner never had those crazy transitions and still she had the highest PCS, whether you agree with this or not. Same applies to Osmond I think.

I disliked "Girl on a Ball". Everyone was proclaiming how incredible it was, but I just saw a thousand leg extensions. Although most people and judges didn't agree.

Her SP this season before the 3A was added is absolutely perfect to me and 1000 times better, but I'm sure there aren't many that share my opinion.

These subjective discussions are truly impossible. One thing I do believe though is that making good SPs are way easier than FSs.
