I guess the reason why so many people always "forget" about Anna- she doesn't have charisma. She could win olympics and 3 world titles but there's still nothing to remember about her. She doesn't have any trademarks, something only she would be known for. She is "elegant", "fragile" looking, is pretty, just like many other Russian skaters. But she is wery "pale" compared to others.

Statistics and prediction came true, once again Sasha can't deliver under pressure and Anna claws her way through to the top with sheer mental strength against all odds.
No surprises here I guess. Except for the fact, at least I, expected Sasha to crumble in the Free, not already in the Short. I pray for her that a miracle will happen on Friday, meaning her landing all her quads to get, at the least, on the podium. She deserves it.

Anna & Team - nothing to say here, only applause. Fingers crossed for the Free, she can allow herself small mistakes now.

I think so,too. Sasha will rise. She honestly didn't seem that upset. The girl knows how to keep things in stride!

Imo, you cannot judge that easily on what she might have felt. The last time she openly cried in public after a bad skate, she was told by her coaches never to lose control like that again, so...might have just hid it very well.

But last time she had a bad combination in the SP (junior nationals 2019, fall), she came back incredibly strongly in the FS, so I haven‘t lost hope. Girl‘s a fighter. :)

It's simple math, like to or not. 6.5 in skating skills, max 1 GOE on non-Lutz jumps, edge call and negative GOE on the flutz, negative GOE on the step sequence, hold down the outrageous inflation on presentation and interpretation because several other skaters gave superior performances artistically.
Simple math? Well, math is always simple when you pull numbers out of your ass, I guess.

One bitterly good thing that emerged from this chaos we call Ladies' SP is that Sasha is definitely doing a 3 quad program. Really want to see her pull a Nathan here.

Edit: 5 quads. 5 and maybe even a 3A, she has nothing to lose anyway

It's an unclear edge. Also an unclear edge doesn't mean negative GOE.

You need to look at both base value and grade of execution, but looking at base value alone, Rika's was 4 points higher and Liza's 3 points higher. And their jumps were much better executed. Karen, Kaori and Yelim have around just 1.5 lower in base value, which they compensate for with superior execution. But of course Kaori received negative GOE and an edge call for her less blatant flutz, while Shcherbakova received +4 GOE and no edge call for a worse jump. These judges should be held accountable for the double standards.
Kaori's consistently gotten edge calls internationally. And Karen had a missed q on her 3T and Liza had a missed q on her 3T. Also did you see Kaori's combo - she barely saved it. I love all 3 but Karen and Kaori especially did not have superior execution here.

6.5 in skating skills? Sometimes I wonder if people just watch with their eyes closed or what's with that?

I'd say that Anna had the second-best skating skills after Miyahara. But no one else could really even touch the two of them.

Oh, and actually, no one gave a superior performance artistically.

Sasha also might not fully have processed what happened yet. Also I don't think she was expected a score that low.

I fully think Sasha will come back in the FS. The one good thing is there isn't the pressure of staying ahead in the FS. She's well before all her closest rivals. And it might help her to just be able to skate her FS now. (Hopefully, there is still some pressure do too future teams etc. but NO ONE can match her TES in the FS.)

Yes, but both edges should have been
called from Kaori and Anna. A flutz is a flutz neither is more blatant. Karen and Liza should have gotten q calls. Anna shouldn't have gotten +5 GOE on a Stepseq with a noticable trip. That being said none of these things happened. So, we should probably just move on....
