Sasha seems to have spoken about how a lot of her issues are mental and I hope they help her with that. If she can throw a five quad program out in competition, which she clearly is capable of doing, she will be unstoppable. Also Plushenko needs to understand what he's doing with Sasha as well. She shouldn't be confused about what layout she's doing up until her actual skate!

Did They change something last minute? I thought she was always planning to go for 5?

I got so hammered on the ladies in the prediction contest😭 with Rika off the podium and i think I put Liza in 6th. Whoops 😬

Worlds is over. What a fantastic event is was!

The Ladies was a bit messy though. It is clear when you compare it to 2019 Worlds where the whole Top 5 would have been ahead of Tuktamysheva. And Zagitova would have beaten Shcherbakova.

Anna - finally she got the international title she deserves. But it was hard work. She has nerves of steal though, and pulling an Alina and save that Loop combo in the free was epic. I am sooo happy for her.:jump:

Liza - what a fantastic story. Another Worlds medal after 6 years. This is what touched me the most I think.

Sasha - yay a bronze! After a short that seemed to have put her out of contention. I agree with her free skate strategy, she had nothing to lose. But in hindsight, if she had gone with the same strategy as at RusNats, and being clean, she would have won gold here.

First medal sweep in Ladies since 1991 when the US got it (after Ito literally jumped OUT of the rink).

Well in the press conference at the end she seemed very defiant about the quads and insisted she will always go for 5. However, what her team might be saying/thinking behind the scenes is different and there might be some debate/argument at the rink on what she should do. That type of thing probably does play with the mind, especially one that is already nervous.

That’s the feelings I’m getting.

Yes, but they had 4Lz+1Eu+3S originally which changed to 4Lz+3T and she also went for 3F+3T randomly in a runthrough. She was always aiming for five, but even at just one event, there wasn't a single FS runthrough that had the same tech content which is worrying.

I do not get why people are upset over Anna's national title. I mean she can have all the national titles. At the same time she has never won anything important internationally - Alyona is a GPF champion, a JGPF champion and an European champion. Sasha is a two time Junior World champion and a JGPF champion. Anna has zero such titles.
Except she has never won ANY major INTERNATIONAL title... you know the ones with at least a modicum of unbiased judging.
I’m not saying she couldn’t, just that she hasn’t.

And therein lies the problem. Sasha is working on so many layouts and ultra-c elements that her triples aren't solid. Thus that mistake in the short - overrotating the 3Lz.

I don't think it's worth it working on the 4F and the 4S. I'm sure she is probably working on the 4Lo as well. I think it would be better concentrating on the 3A (she needs that in the short) and the 4Lz and 4T. With that she could have a 4 quad program and even throw in a 3A in the free if everything is stable. But more importantly, that would mean working on three ultra-c elements instead of six.

What an event, ha?

I couldn't be happier for Liza and Anna, and great comeback from Sasha.
I do think that judgeing was fair-ish.
They ignored some of Anna's mistakes but even if they wouldn't, she was many points clear.

Same time I don't know if I like the way figure skating is going these days, i remember watching WC in 2019 nd Olimpics, everyone going clean, one after another.

This seems more like a jump fest.

I think the ladies are just seeing growing pains with the increased difficulty. It happened with the men, really not even that long ago.
Yes, I think we are in a period (for the ladies) where we have these difficult elements, (quads, 3As, etc.) and a few skaters who can do them. These skaters who can do them well; they are able to pull ahead and win, and everyone else is left in the dust. These elements are performed by enough skaters to occupy the podium, but they are so difficult that not nearly enough people can do them to the point that they have become a standard. (Like all triples except 3A)

I had a depressing thought that the sweep looks like bad news for Kostornaia. Obviously predictions in this sport are for fools 🙃 But Alena will now be up against 3 reigning World medalists and 3 15-year olds at their peaks.

I think her being almost 17 is exactly why people think she won't be fine. Eteri skaters don't tend to get better with age.

Just cuz you said that, Daniil is literally going to make her skate to "In the arms of the angels" next year :ROFLMAO:

This. With her toe jumps, she has long stretched out set ups and jumps. With the sal and axel, she looks like she's trying to land in the same spot she took off from. Just not great technique. I desperately wish she would go for clean. RusFed is never going to bet on her with this record. If she wants to play conservative till she makes the Olympic team then throw in 5 quads at the games before they can stop her, fine.

Yes, but honestly if she doesn't make I won't feel too badly. Yes, obviously she wants to go to the Olympics, but this medal here has already made the last 6 years worth it.

I would buy this more if RusFed hadn't literally released a statement saying Sambo got to bring 3 coaches because they're special.
Except that Aliona is the most beautiful skater in the world with the best technique. No? If she finds her form again watch out!
I expect the best triple axel in the world to return next season too. Aliona will be a factor.

If your point is that almost no Russian skaters get better with age, fair enough, but im not sure how that helps Anna.
Also who is Vika V?
My point is that almost every female skater in the world struggles with puberty. I find it ridiculous that some pretend that it’s not the case for everyone and only Tutberidze skaters happen to experience troubles when going through that period.

Let’s say, everyone’s different. Some manage to do relatively okay with it (esp. if they don’t grow as much), some do not, some manage to not only overcome it, but actually improve on top of it. One might struggle more, one will struggle less. I think with this, people should manage their expectations with regards to these girls’ performances.
I swear to god, every other female skater is allowed to have a strugglebus period, aside from these ladies. Kaori has a disastrous season - no one bats an eye. Rika struggles with underrotations, bombs a program - she must be injured. Tutberidze girl makes 1-2 mistakes in a really difficult program - “she’s done, it’s over for her”.
