Im soo sorry for Maya, she deserve some major success
Secondly, Alyona is awesome skater, but her FP doesnt work for me, at least for now. And Sasha, Im happy she finally reached to gold and overcome her counterparts. From this point of view, her coaching/team change was a good decision, but on the other side, in Khrustalny they focusing on clean skates, that was reason why Eteri and others keep Sasha from her wish of quads storm. Im not sure how well her next programs will be accepted on international level. On the one hand its awesome to see so many quads, but on the other hand, if she will keep fall 1-2 times per free program, Im bit afraid about her health, scores and psychological effect on her, especially if Plush and his team will gradualy come to same conclusion (that its overall better approach to skate stabilized program with 2 quads then 3-4 quads with 50% success rate and work on her presentation skills). Anyway, I wish to all girls all good and mainly happiness from what they doing.

Well deserved victory for Sasha, Maia improved it’s a pity for the falls but she deserves her third place and Alyona is still beautiful to watch. It was a good program with good execution, I understand that she’s not ready yet for the 3A and there’s no rush.

Well they didnt post any 3a because obviously she doesn't have it (yet)

Agree that her dresses are horrible. They look like a buyanova reject. this are the little thing just don't happen with eteri.

However, the most important thing was a clean skate. Rember its her first outing with new programs, after a nasty public divorce mids of puberty including body changes, covid preperation and so on..
Guys giver her some slack, please
Eh, the dresses aren't bad. I mean, look at the Eteri dresses this year, they aren't great either (Daria's and Anna's are fine but Kamila's... what happened?)

I was going to post the standings myself but you beat me to it! :D

Yes, the big question is if Medvedeva and Sinitsyna gets a bye or not. But even if they did, they might not compete anyway because they are still injured. Sinitsyna said some time ago she hopes to compete at Stage Five, we'll see if that happens.

I also wonder about Gubanova. We have heard nothing about her. Is she injured as well? Has she not been training? Is there a chance that she gets a bye as well?

But it indeed seems like Konstantinova is on the cusp right now. She and Shulskaya picked the two most stacked Stages to compete in - the competition was fierce!

Here is the complete standings after Stage Four:

1. Trusova 36 points 489.22 score
2. Shcherbakova 36 p 486.31
3. Usacheva 30 p 458.39
4. Frolova 28 p 407.93
5. Khrmoykh 28 p 405.34
6. Samodurova 24 p 390.24
7. Nugumanova 18 p 369.70
8. Talalaykina 18 p 352.45
9. Valieva 16 p 233.70 - Stage Five
10. Kostornaia 16 p 226.31 - Stage Five

11. Shulskaya 14 p 374.41
12. Molchanova 14 p 322.39
13. Tuktamysheva 14 p 213.26 - Stage Five
14. Konstantinova 12 p 374.62
15. Onishchenko 10 p 304.73
16. Gulyakova 10 p 186.44 - Stage Five
17. Sultanmagemedova 10 p 174.34 - Stage Five
18. Tsibinova 8 p 189.98 - Stage Five
19. Tarakanova 4 p 184.85 - Stage Five

I don't think anyone else have any chance.
So is Total score the tie breaker? I wasnt sure when i did my evaluation

About Gubanova I dont know where she is but I find it unlikely that she will get a bye. medvedeva and Sinitsyna are natinal team members which would be the justification for putting them in but Gubanova is not and has never been given anything from the federation.

This is literally Alyona's first outing, I don't understand why people think it's enough to write her off? Daria's programs at test skates were meh too, and so were Sonya Murvyeva's. Now, I love both of their programs!
She still has PLENTY of time considering there’s no senior who could realistically kick her off the Worlds team this year. However, it’s not just her programs, she’s having issues with essentially every part of her skating. If Rusnats were tomorrow, she’d probably be 5th. However, she still has plenty of time before next season to move up into the top 3 again. Hopefully she can work through all of the issues.

Well, it's early in the season so it's kind of difficult to judge a program at its first outing. However, unfortunately two sections of the music immediately bring the memory of two epic (for me) skating: Medvedeva scintillating first senior season and Gubanova lovely R&J LP in her most successful junior season. In my mind I kind of compare Alena's program with theirs and it's just not quite there yet. I'm sure the program will improve though as the season progress and Alena gets over her physical troubles, even though it won't probably be Alena's Seimei, the masterpiece I hoped for her when the collaboration with SLB was announced.

I suspect Aliona is struggling to get the 3A back right now because her rotation speed is not where it was last season. Last season, with tight rotation, she was barely getting the 3A fully rotated. This season, on her other triples, you can see that she is still getting her usual excellent height but her rotation is not as tight, and on many jumps she is not landing fully backwards. This is why she got the q1 call on her 3F today and why she is having more trouble with her combos. When your first jump is not fully backwards you lose momentum going into the second jump. I'm optimistic that with better conditioning she will get it back, since the Plushenko team has done well in improving Sasha's rotation and gather speed.

Yes, I think the total score is the tiebreaker. Last year Shulskaya beat Talalaykina on score to get into Nationals. It didn't matter though as Talalaykina got in anyway after a withdrawal.

Honestly, I was quite sceptical about her current condition and was pleasantly surprised that she was able to show two very good outings this weekend. It's obvious that puberty has hit her and she is struggling to keep her technique - some of her jumps are smaller then they used to be, but still props to her for keep fighting. I am also relieved that her SS didn't suffer despite the long off-ice pause during the pandemic. Obviously she has to deal with a (back) injury at the moment, so I hope she can recover fully before going for the 3A.

As for her FP, I am not a fan of it. Aliona has great speed and flow, and they gave her the typical Northern-American program in which she can showcase that..but nothing more. And yes Daniil has made some alwful music mixtures over the seasons, but this program tops that on another level. I also find it pitty that they haven't paid attention to a lot of musical accents, during which she is just doing cross-overs. With skaters like Medvedeva and Gubanova, both of which has skated to this music, to give Kostornaia that choreo wasn't a favour.

As for the dress, I don't mind the design, but the colour is bad. There is no contrast between her skin, hair and costume. Maybe they could think about re-doing it? Anyway, I enjoyed her skate despite the flaws. I also got almost heartbroken to see her defeated face before she starts, knowing that Sasha just won the event.

I think she would have known it'd be very unlikely to beat Sasha with only one 3A so I imagine she must have been disappointed that the success rate of the 3A during practice wasn't enough to include it this time.

"Nah, it looked very insecure, very unfinished, like a crude program, so I'm not particularly happy. Somewhere I didn't follow the drawing, somewhere I stumbled, added my hands and my steps not according to the drawing at all, so I not happy " from aliona interview. at least she’s self aware lol

kamilia is a snake I think her bolero costume suits more than her sp dress which is too long but represents the sky.

I found today's programs in general more interesting to watch than the SP.

Tsibinova has a great program, some stamina issues but I loved the flair. Solid outing imo.

I loved Tarakanova's program too, probably my favourite of the night. It's so different and I love me some edgy queen energy. She still has that passion but the wildness is mostly tamed now, it's a big improvement. Her speed though. She's so fast, I was getting nervous every time she went to jump fearing she might run out of rink and crash into the boards.

Nugumanova was lovely again and a nice clean slate for her too. Have to say, I'm not a fan of the program though, not sure why because I do like the song.

I liked Samodurova's FP even though her SP didn't interest me. Although not quite as high as her peak, she got a good score here that she can be proud of.

Congratulations to Sasha! The 4S and 4Lz were flying, I swear they're even bigger than before. She's still has plenty of room to improve but I can see that she's been working hard on the interpretation, her movements have intention and are more often extended and held. I'm so proud of her.

Well two out of 5 equals to not be ready to jump it in competition. She said it herself. But she will have it very soon, i am confident. Glad she is playing the long term game
Well it’s best to prevent some injuries, there’s no international competition yet.

Also Sashas layout. I feel like we need to ditch the +3Lo combo. I saw the one in the warmup which looked great but she keeps missing it in the program both this year and last and its just not worth it. I would guess the problem is mainly that at that point she is to tired to time it perfectly and who wouldnt be after that opening...
So here is my suggestion for an alternative layout.
4S
4Lz
4T+3T
2A
x4T+Eu+3S
x3Lz+3T
x3F/3Lo

She loses one 3lz to ether a 3F (-0.66BV) or 3Lo (-1.1BV). And the 3Lo to a 3T (-0.77BV) That would be a loss of either -1.34BV or -1.87BV which is verry little compared to today.
Today she lost over 7points on this combo (-3,7 for being called as 2Lo, -2,83 in GOE, -1 deduction).

She would probably loose another -0.1 or -0.2 in GOE for the lower BV on the last element since GOE is calculated as percentage on BV. But she would also pressumably get positive GOE on the 3Lz+3T combo. They gave her +2.12 in the short yesturday for example.

So my layout gains her about 8 points compared to today and is significantly less risky.
